Merge?[edit]

I agree. This article is currently of a higher standard than Independent Baseball. JJay has been doing sterling work bringing this article up to standard. Hopefully JJay or someone else will do the same with Independent Baseball (there are some handy links that someone moved to the talk page on that article). There should, at some point, be a link from Independent Baseball to this article, but it would be better, IMO, for that article to be an umbrella one on Independent Baseball, and this article to be one of a series of articles, one for each of the independent leagues. Thanks for the comments. I totally agree with your point of view, but saw no reason to spell it out previously. The independent baseball article is a mess, well below the par of our articles on the minors or majors. Rename?[edit]

Does this article need renaming? I am thinking that "Golden State League" almost certainly refers to other things in the context of other sports. Though they may not be notable, or the articles may not yet have been written. From a search in Google, the only thing I came up with was the Golden State Soccer League (GSSL), which some people call the Golden State League. Carcharoth 20:45, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are probably thinking of the Golden State Athletics Conference, which is college sports. A possible rename here would be to Golden State Baseball League. -- JJay 20:54, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If it was called "Golden State League" (without any reference to baseball), then the rename should be to "Golden State League (baseball)", IMO. I hadn't heard of this Golden State Athletic Conference (the official name says "Atheltic", not "Athletics" - and the website says that "the GSAC members are all church-related Christian colleges"), but that is different from this soccer league I found. Links are here and here. Until articles are created that may introduce ambiguity, I don't think anything needs to be done. If someone want to create stub articles for the above two leagues/conferences (maybe they already exist), and also to create a dismbig page, that would be good, but I don't have the time to do more than this. The Southwest Baseball League had teams in Sierra Vista, Arizona (the Coppers); Gallup, New Mexico (the Green Sox); Pueblo, Colorado (the Bighorns); Roswell, New Mexico (the Greys) and St. George, Utah (the Devils). The Antelope Valley Ravens team managed to survive another year. Yuma was a founding team of the Western Baseball League from 1996 to disbanding in 2003.
