Word history[edit]

It is true the Geman for "groom" in this sense bears no relation to the English. However, the related word "bridegroom" (according to its page also deriving partly from an older word for "boy") is very similar in German, namely "Bräutigam". It seems unlikely to me that these two words are unrelated. I know that is OR but I think it raises serious concern about the sentence "It has no known cognates in other Germanic languages". A citation would be useful here I think. --Thehalfone (talk) 14:01, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone find one, be good to add, I hope someone has the time to do so. Montanabw(talk) 23:46, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The title is bad.[edit]

A groom is a person, not a horse. Therefore the article title, "Groom (horse)", is bad. --Gallusgallus (talk) 04:43, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And both a noun and a verb too... good point. Montanabw(talk) 20:54, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
