Claim of errors[edit]

A non-logged in user made repeated claims that there were discrepencies between the DoD reports and iCasualties. They were, appropriately, removed from the article as being original research, not supported by outside sources. The editor provided two examples visible in this revision. Checking them as of now (the iCasualties page has changed, it's now: http://icasualties.org/Iraq/USDeathsByService.aspx ), the both errors appears to still be there. It does not seem surprising that errors such as that would creep into a large database, indeed it would be more surprising if none could be found, but it does seem like something worth mentioning here on the talk page. 75.217.0.220 (talk) 20:51, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Independence issue[edit]

As of 12/30, CNN.com just did a major profile on White, which confirms that he owns the site and pays for it himself. That would provide a citation needed for the 'fact' question of whether the site is independent. Here is that link:

File:Icasualties.png Nominated for speedy Deletion[edit]

An image used in this article, File:Icasualties.png, has been nominated for speedy deletion for the following reason: Wikipedia files with no non-free use rationale as of 3 December 2011

What should I do?

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to provide a fair use rationale
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale, then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Deletion Review
