the incroyables was the very first youth movement based in fashion, it is not an article about a band or a group of persons. there is articles about the same kind of movements here in wikipedia like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macaroni_%28fashion%29, they were of importance in the directoire style definition. even in the images of the period in fashion there are the mention of the incroyables. And after all i-m just beginnig to put it down it would be quite polite to let me finish before delete me! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muscadin

added some material from french wiki[edit]

the page was on a list of requested translations. That's not quite what I have done since the English page already contained other material, but all of the facts I've added tonight are from the corresponding French wiki page.

copyeditor: primary concern is format[edit]

I have left Incroyables and Merveilleuses in capitalized italics, but am not sure this is correct. The appellation is similar to Hoosier (in function, not meaning) ie these people are (perhaps mostly self-identified) members of an informal social group. Quality of the French Wiki[edit]

The page suggests importing content from the French language page, but that page contains no in-line citations, only a bibliography leading to a few books/encyclopedias. Since Wikipedia articles in other languages are not considered valid sources (if I recall correctly), should we still transfer over the unverified content? There is a template available to indicate that an article contains material translated from another language's Wiki. If such material conatined no supporting references and were the only source for the article on this Wiki. thje latter might be open to challenge, but where the article already contains independent references — preferably "real" books and not just some website or other — there would be no reason not to include the translated material. — Robert Greer (talk) 15:34, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Incroyables and merveilleuses" and "Muscadin"[edit]
