Accreditation[edit]

York St John University since July 2014 are the validating body for Irish Bible Institute. Louise Halpin for IBI. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.47.90.179 (talk) 15:57, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure that IBI is now accredited by the College of Wales. Should this be updated? --StanMcConnell (talk) 17:03, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On 2 January 2009, IP editor 24.209.169.135 removed the unaccredited language, and footnote which quopted the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland: "The Authority notes the clear provisions of the Qualifications (Education and Training) Act 1999, which allow for the submission of programmes for validation to the two Awards Councils – the Further Education and Training Awards Council and the Higher Education and Training Awards Council. Thus, the Authority notes that Ireland is in a unique position in international terms in having State awards available for all provision of learning opportunities within the State and considers that no learning provider or non-statutory awarding body should feel excluded from working with the Awards Councils." National Qualifications Authority of Ireland. No evidence of accreditation via the University of Wales has been presented. Certain degrees offered through the Irish Bible Institute are validated and awarded by the federal University of Wales, but the Irish Bible Institute is not accredited. --Bejnar (talk) 03:45, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes the IBI has been accredited and the revisions were made to the main article but have not been yet updated for some reason. Trying to sort this out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Irishbible (talkcontribs) 12:38, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Univeristy of Wales website lists IBI as one of their accredited partners here http://www.wales.ac.uk/en/InstitutionsAndCourses/IBI/IrishBibleInstitute-Dublin.aspx Louise Halpin — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.47.90.179 (talk) 10:52, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The cited source indicates that two courses at the Irish Bible Institute have been validated for credit at the University of Wales. There is no mention of accreditation. --Bejnar (talk) 15:12, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • When you have a citation to a reliable, independent source, for accreditation please provide it, and then we can include such accreditation in the article. Until then, let it remain marked as unaccredited. The National Qualifications Authority of Ireland would be a good source, albeit primary. --Bejnar (talk) 20:40, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bejnar. I believe you are confusing the issue. The two courses listed on the Wales site are the two courses offered by the ibi. If all the courses offered by an institute are accredited then is it not fair to say the institute is an accredited one? or is there some other mechanism that you are talking about? Does the institution in and of itself have to be accredited apart from the courses? Eleutherius (talk) 12:28, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Univ. of Wales accepts those two courses for credit at Univ. of Wales, that is not accreditation. The IBI has not complied with Ireland's Qualifications (Education and Training) Act 1999. --Bejnar (talk) 16:53, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Single, non-independent source[edit]

This article relies solely upon the Irish Bible Institute's official website for its content. The importance of independent sources is discussed at Wikipedia:Independent sources. The Irish Bible Institute's official website constitutes a self-published source, as such the policy (not guideline, but policy) at Wikipedia:Verifiability#Self-published or questionable sources as sources on themselves says: Self-published and questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves ... so long as: (5) the article is not based primarily on such sources. This article currently violates that policy. The section on Notability in the Verifiability policy says: If no reliable third-party sources can be found on a topic, Wikipedia should not have an article on it.
