This page needs a more informative color scheme. There's too many that are <1 day, which could mean anything from 23 hours to 1 microsecond. 69.183.65.127 (talk) 18:51, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

A color for the half-life interval from 103Ma to 700Ma is missing. Mega is somewhere abbreviated m rather than M. 'a' and 'year' are both used. Where do I find more precise half-lifes? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.239.205.120 (talk) 12:59, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

You can find more accurate half-lives by clicking on the Z numbers above each element symbol. They link you to pages just about the isotopes of the element in question.Kpufferfish (talk) 01:21, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Printing[edit]

Those with half lives > 1 day? Not only those.[edit]

There are many isotopes listed whose half-life is given as less than one day.

Is there some new criterion for inclusion? The statement should be amended. Dratman (talk) 21:49, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Serious issues with chart[edit]

First, I agree with the prior commenter that this chart needs to be more inclusive. There's lots of research going on at the drip lines and lots of good data is available. For instance, I'm currently studying Oxygen 23 and 24 with the MoNA collaboration in an effort to better understand nuclear structure. These aren't evaporative isotopes, and in fact have half lives much longer than was once expected. Similar findings are occuring on the proton drip line as well. Next, while I'm happy to see some mention of nuclear isomers, the chart is lacking terribly in information. No information is provided regarding decay modes, which is very important and illustrates some fundamental details about nuclear structure. Then half life data is given as an order of magnitude at best, which falls into the 'preliminary measurement reported with better resolved information' category. I'll have a look at how this chart is coded and see what I can do, but I'm very disappointed in this showing. It's not as though this is information that isn't shown on the pages listing isotopes for individual elements. Perhaps there is someway that this page could be generated from those pages upon viewing? That would make things easier. 138.234.75.141 (talk) 05:47, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Metastable isotopes[edit]

On all of these table of nuclides formats there is very poor representation of the relatively stable metastable isotopes. There are many metastable isotopes that are stable for 100's and 1000's of years,none of which are represented on the table. Examples include Bi 210m (3 million years), Re 186m (200,000 years), Ho 166m1 (1200 years), Ag 108m (418 years) as well as a number of other shorter lifetime isotopes that are actually longer than the ground state. Most of these are not represented in the table. For some reason most of the very short lifetime metastable isotopes are represented.Darlough (talk) 15:08, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Color and lifetime[edit]

The half-life representation of time frames and the associated color scheme are fairly poor. With repect to the colours it is quite difficult when looking at the table to really get a grasp of the lifetime of a particular isotope without having to constantly go back to the color scheme key. It would probably be better to have a scheme with less color variation and more shade variation. The darkest shade would be stable and the shade gets lighter for less stable isotopes. Black through navy, blue, cyan and white would be more visually digestible.Darlough (talk) 15:24, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

He-2 ?[edit]

Since the p-p reaction pathway creates He-2, why isn't it included here? What criteria, if any, does it lack? I think it needs explanation (as well as the omission of the other bare proton nuclei).72.172.1.250 (talk) 21:29, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

The chart does not follow convention for the direction[edit]

Why does this chart have hydrogen at the top and goes down? The convention is for hydrogen to be at the bottom left corner. Zginder 2014-01-04T23:14:28Z

Because otherwise all you'd see at a top is blank space, which looks like a mistake even though it isn't? Double sharp (talk) 07:44, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
