[edit]September 3, 2006 References have been provided for Jerry Reynolds being a "fan favorite" which comes from his official bio on the Sacramento Kings' website. In addition, if you have heard Mr. Reynolds call a Kings' basketball game, his humor is quite evident and he calls himself the "other guy from French Lick, IN" which is a reference to Larry Bird. Mr. Reynolds as a basketball coach and executive has spoken with, to and about Mr. Bird on numerous occasions. This reference is also a part of his official bio on the Kings' website.
A second footnote, concerning this refence, is provided from a chat session that the Sacramento Bee did with him and his many fans. Of course, this footnote is only as good as long as the webpage/site exists. From that chat session under the heading "French Lick", please consider the following exchange between Mr. Reynolds and a fan:
"Question: Jerry, For years I've heard you say you are the second-most famous person to come out of French Lick, Indiana. Do you take any comfort in knowing that perhaps you are the better looking of the two, therefore making you the best looking celebrity from French Lick?
answer: Obviously you’ve evaluated Mr. Larry Bird and my appearance closely and have come to the same conclusion any sane person would that I am one handsome dude. Larry’s appearance has improved over the years but still clearly a distant second."
Mr. Reynold's wit shows through and provides the reference footnoted in the article.
In terms of rating this article, with the references and websites listed it probably would be rated a "five" on the Wikipedia Encyclopedia system. It is not the best and certainly not the worst. In adding to this page, I as a fan of the man have attempted to give Mr. Reynold's entry some of the flavor he has brought not only to the Sacramento sporting community but the general region as well. He is a very popular speaker (this also comes from his official bio) throughout the region.
In time, I will revisit this page and add to it so as to preserve Jerry Reynold's flavor. I categorically state I am not related to Mr. Reynolds, employed by the Sacramento Kings or Mr. Reynolds, and am not beholden to him. I am a fan who wishes to contribute to this entry solely on the reasons I have mentioned.
