John Collier Jr. Redirect Broken, Points to John Collier Sr.)[edit]

The redirect for John Collier Jr. is broken, it should not go to this man (John Collier (reformer)), who is effectively John Collier, Sr. The son (John Collier Jr., 1913-1992) is a famous photographer who apparently does not have an entry in Wikipedia, even though his is prominent enough to be linked under this entry's Family section to an off-site collection of his photography. citation needed - where was he a sociology professor?[edit]

He's consistently referred to in book after book as an anthropologist, which is what he called himself. That's what his relatives say he is, as well. So where was this academic appointment as a sociology professor?--Levalley (talk) 07:20, 26 March 2009 (UTC)LeValley[reply]

Indian view of John Collier's actions and policies currently unmentioned[edit]

This article seems to paint an all-rosy glow around John Collier, and it's true that historians praise more than condemn his actions ... but there has been significant Indian criticism of Collier that is currently unmentioned. My goal with the next sequence of edits I make is to deescribe the existence of alternate points of view about his policies in the spirit of Wikipedia:NPOV. In an effort to not "go too far" I will also try to address the problem of lack of in-line citations for his many worthy achievements. I do wonder about the title "John Collier (reformer)" rather than something more like "John Collier (government official)" and wonder if others think "reformer" is value-neutral. Wow, you two went to town on this one! Thanks for all the great additions! I wish the page still linked to Alice Lee Jemison, who was a big opponent of Collier. Also, removing her reinforces the problem of Gender bias on Wikipedia where "articles about women are much more likely to link to articles about men than vice versa" [1]. In full disclosure, I did create the Alice Lee Jemison page, so I'm biased toward including it :) But, her writings do provide good examples of how the Indians he antagonized expressed themselves.
