Proposed deletion[edit]

This article should not be deleted as it refers to a music scholar who completed a major composition- the Tenth Symphony of Gustav Mahler. Other individuals Deryck Cooke who undertook the same task also have web entries, as have Franz Xaver Süssmayr, the completer of another famous work, Mozart's Requiem. Additionally, recordings are available of Wheeler's work (one is cited in the article) and his work is regularly performed. Further, Wheeler is included in the Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians which would suggest an equivalent entry here is appropriate.--Stevouk (talk) 20:40, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to second that. It would be absurd to make Wheeler -- alone of all the musicians who have worked on the Mahler 10 draft and contributed to our knowledge of the music! -- the one figure whose details could not be looked up in wikipedia. What is more, so central is his place in the history of Mahler's last work that new pages about him will inevitably be created as soon as someone new notices that he is not found here.
