@SugaShikaoFans: and @2001:4430:C0C2:3F4D:AD2A:243A:8BCC:222C: please discuss here on whether to include or exclude diff.--Mvqr (talk) 12:02, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that the information in the Jun Matsumoto page should include the information about his career in music, which includes his being a part of Arashi, which @2001:4430:C0C2:3F4D:AD2A:243A:8BCC:222C: continues to delete saying it is not in the IMDB. The IMDB page only includes the information about his acting career, and Jun Matsumoto is much more than just that. I was trying to keep the page as faithful and true as his life is, but this person continued reverting and erasing all information about his musical career.SugaShikaoFans (talk) 12:12, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

suzuuu - Hello there, I just want to add on that solely relying on one webpage/source (in this situation, IMDB) that focuses on only one topic (in this situation, filmography) is highly unfavorable, as any information regardless if it is biography or not should consider multiple aspects from multiple credible sources. In the case of the Jun Matsumoto page, through the page editing history, there had been multiple arguments citing the same reason of the page IMBD does not state Matsumoto's musical career and such. Again, official and credible resources on Jun Matsumoto's musical career (such as Johnny's Net being a source from the agency he is under, and JStorm being a music label Arashi is under) are widely available but are disregarded.

Upon further investigation on the editing history, the last time the Jun Matsumoto page was in a condition were it states his musical career was at 07:22, 19 January 2021. The first steps of the disregarding of his musical career started way from 06:25, 16 February 2021. The current state/quality of the Jun Matsumoto stage is very poor, as the information is incomplete and unbalanced, introduction is not as straight-to-the-point as before, and the entire page is filled with syntax and/or grammatical mistakes.

Additionally, since the Wikipedia:Vandalism page do mention about IP addresses, I want to point out that multiple different IP addresses have same/similar editing motives, so it may not be efficient to only tag that one certain IP address.

Back to the topic on the state of the article, I think it would be more efficient to revert back to the version at 07:22, 19 January 2021. Please give me some thoughts about this decision before I make the revert. I sincerely apologize for all the details lost in the process, but I will try my best to add in more relevant details. If anything, the truth is that I have been thinking about correcting some terminology usages and updating sources (e.g. changing from "concertmaster" to "concert director" as "concertmaster" is a terminology used in violin/orchestra), but I did not expect the state of the page to be this chaotic!

It's OK by me. I guess all the further changes I did after that I could replace them one by one, as my only motive is to improve the information, not vandalize it. Thank you so much, Suzu.SugaShikaoFans (talk) 00:47, 19 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Restoring Quality and Further Upgrade[edit]

Hello there!

As mentioned above in "Recent edits", seeing the current state of the Jun Matsumoto page, I wish to revert the page back to the version at 07:22, 19 January 2021 (edit ID: 948116195), and make upgrades based from that version.

Firstly, regarding reverting back to the 948116195 version at 07:22, 19 January 2021, this is the last time when the article was at an acceptable quality. While some points presented lack adequate referencing (e.g. "He invented the moving stage in 2005"), the 948116195 version (and majority of the versions prior) was able to summarize the main aspect of Matsumoto's career in a straightforward and balanced manner that reflects himself; that he is a member of Arashi, best known work and award (very properly sourced here), summary of early career, and his success. However, the current version's introduction is messy, namely the lengthy and unproportionate amount of information on his acting career, which would be more appropriate in the career section. Additionally, some referencing used may borderline the qualification for link vandalism, as they use irrelevant sources, namely mentions of alternative TV series adaptation that does not have to do with Matsumoto's participation (e.g. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-04-06/kimi-wa-pet/tramps-like-us-manga-gets-korean-film). As for the body part, there is a revert war particularly on the 'Music career' going on during the time this talk is being made. Compared to the 948116195 version with "Although the majority of Matsumoto's solos for albums and concerts are written by Arashi's staff, he has contributed lyrics...", the more "deletion" version minimalizes the information typically with merely "majority of Matsumoto's solos for albums and concerts are written by Arashi's staff" and insufficient source, while the more "addition" version adds a considerable amount of details, but needs referencing. Overall, there are also multiple grammatical errors in the current version of the page compared to the 948116195 version.

In case it is allowed for the page to be reverted back to its adequate state which is the 948116195 version at 07:22, 19 January 2021, some more possible upgrades or changes from the version can be considered. In the introduction section, "He invented the moving stage in 2005" should either be moved to 'Career' but with proper references added, or deleted complete due to insufficient referencing. Additionally, the term "concertmaster" should be changed into "concert director" as concertmaster is a completely different terminology used in violin/orchestra. On the 'Music career' part, while the amount of detail in the current 'addition' side is highly appreciated, there should referencing done. If we were to completely disregard the 'addition' side and only kept whatever stated in 948116195 version, a possible way to expand from that version could be using information in this article about Matsumoto's involvement in concert production (https://realsound.jp/2014/10/post-1446.html), and/or more observations in the credits for Arashi's discography (e.g. "La Familia," "Stay Gold," "Fight Song," etc.). Some information regarding Matsumoto's acting career that are written in the introduction may be moved to the 'Acting career' section, but with better referencing, and deletion of any biased statements if applicable.

To summarize, to best preserve the original adequate quality state, the page Jun Matsumoto should be reverted back to 07:22, 19 January 2021 (edit ID: 948116195) where it is able to transmit information effectively with proper sourcing and structuring. If there are wishes to upgrade the article, it would be through careful addition of information with sufficient relevant sources.

Thank you for going through my suggestion upon improving this page. - Suzu2309 suzuuu 07:32, 19 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I do agree with reverting the page back to when you specified and that is mainly because of all the edits IPs have done, it makes it a bit unclear what is and isn't constructive. Blaze The Wolf | Proud Furry and Wikipedia Editor (talk) 13:29, 19 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there! Once again, I did notice one of your editing summary stating "Jun Matsumoto's publications have been deleted, and you're only going to write about Arashi, not Jun Matsumoto's personal information" on the page Jun Matsumoto. As I am also trying my best to provide the as many quality contents about Matsumoto, I would like to justify my edits. Of course, as it is ideal to cover all the materials regarding Matsumoto's career, I am looking for both his achievements as an actor and contributions to Arashi specifically and the music industry as a whole, because that is all the aspects that Matsumoto is involved in his career (and again, if anything, if you were to take a close look into all of Matsumoto's activities, acting is not even considered as his main job, even if (some of us here thinks that) he's better known as an actor! But hey! The statement "He is best known to Japanese television drama audiences for his portrayal as Dōmyōuji Tsukasa in the Hana Yori Dango series" is suffice to prove his popularity as an actor!) And again, a lot of the information on his acting career had been highly repetitive, so what I did is that I made sure the information on his acting career is not repetitive, keep the information clear, concise, and relevant, and I even tried to make some updates on it with more proper sourcing.
Once again I still need some clarification on what you mean by "Jun Matsumoto's publications."
As Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia and not a tabloid, I would like to remind you that Wikipedia is against improper/irrelevant sourcing, heavily opinionated text, and gossips, and the version you try to revert to contain the elements I just mentioned. For example, that version gave irrelevant links about other adaptations of the film/drama Matsumoto is in, in which those adaptations have no relevance nor impact on Matsumoto himself. There is a certain phrase about Shitsuren Chocolatier where it says "It became a big issue in Japan" that does not clarify what is the "big issue" nor proper credible sourcing to how it is a "big issue." The sentence "He had also done some hosting with a long running variety show he just finished in 2007" is also awkward and once again lacks referencing. Meanwhile, Matsumoto is involved in multiple long-running variety shows as part of Arashi.
Now, I know you may think that "but you are talking about Arashi here not Jun Matsumoto" but the thing is that Matsumoto himself is still involved in such activities relating to Arashi (and hiatus does not mean disband), and if anything, the version's deletion on the information about Matsumoto's activity as Arashi is lessening information on Matsumoto's career as a whole because again, Arashi is a part of Matsumoto's career and Matsumoto had been making his own unique contributions to Arashi specifically and the music industry as a whole.
For comparison on my most recent edit version (at 16:35, 19 August 2021; edit ID: 1039598397), what I did is that I kept the present information on his acting career clear, concise, and clear from any irrelevance especially those that can potentially spark gossips, along with additional update such as his roles and success in the dramas Lucky Seven, Shitsuren Chocolatier, 99.9 Criminal Lawyer series, and his upcoming Taiga drama in 2023, along with the films Pikanchi Half and the upcoming 99.9 Criminal Lawyer The Movie in late 2021. From the pieces of information previously available back in January 2021, I have also added more information on his music career that have proper sourcing, specifically updates on his lyrics contribution and concert production. Although my attempt of updating is still incomplete, for both his acting and music career, I am continuously finding more credible sources that can give support in expanding the page, and I try to add it once I found the sources.
If you have any appeals you would like to make, please feel free to add your proper reasonings here.
Sincerely,
Suzu2309 05:33, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Update: I have made big updates.
My apologies if I have broken any rules in the process but I technically used an edit version of my own (at 16:35, 19 August 2021; edit ID: 1039598397) and made updates from there. Please let me know if this is considered as an edit warring behavior; if I have done an unacceptable behavior, I will take note of that, and will not repeat this mistake again. Once again, I sincerely apologize for the inconveniences.
As for the content of my updates, I have added information on both the music and acting career along with as much referencing as possible (notable updates: concert contribution, updated references on acting career, updated information on Lucky Seven, 99.9 Criminal Lawyer series, Taiga drama, Pikanchi Half, 99.9 Criminal Lawyer The Movie, added image in infobox, added alias in info box, added link to official profiles)
Please let me know if you have any appeals you would like to make along with proper reasonings for the appeals.
I deeply appreciate everyone's patience and once again, I apologize for any inconveniences caused.
Sincerely,
Suzu2309 21:33, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Update 2.0: From Tkcmgl12's summary, I would like to present some points. Firstly, you are aware that Arashi has suspended their group activities, but that would mean that Arashi is still intact, but not participating in any activities as a group for some period of time, so all the members of Arashi would still be considered as part of Arashi (including Ohno Satoshi who is currently away from public appearances). Again, the definition of "popular" can be vague, because in 2002-2005 their performances/popularity did decline especially according to the standards of a group under Johnny & Associates, but they are still popular enough to have a music label dedicated to them, placing second on charts, and receive acting offers. Your statement "he will now act individually as an actor" needs referencing (preferably from a credible source with direct quotes from Matsumoto), and "I think Arashi was able to..." is opinionated and needs referencing. Also, judging by how you have been reverting edits with the same reasoning (thus showing that you have not visited the Talk page), you are not conducting appropriate behavior on Wikipedia, where users are encouraged to discuss any potential disputes. Please actively use the Talk page if you have any inquiries in the future both for this page and any other pages on Wikipedia. Thank you for your understanding.
