Kids In America (Len Song), also known as Kids in America (Len song) or Kids in America (Len cover of the Kim Wilde song)[edit]

On 20 November 2013, I added Kids In America (Len Song) to Kids in America. I provided the following explanation for my edit:

Two-and-a-half days later, I undid my mistake. I provided the following explanation for my edit:

Having just listened to LEN’s “Kids in America,” I realise now that it is not a unique song, but rather just a cover of the 1981 Kim Wilde song, which is already listed; thus, I am removing LEN’s “Kids in America” from this list

Four hours later, Ssilvers made a good-faith edit, re-adding Kids In America (Len Song) to Kids in America. Ssilvers provided the following explanation for her/his edit:

List all wikipedia article with this name. Please do not delete linked members of disambig pages.

It must be noted that there is no Wikipedia article with the name Kids In America (Len Song) or Kids in America (Len song). Kids In America (Len Song) is a redirect to Len (band). (Even back when Kids In America (Len Song) was an article, back in 2006, it was only ever a single poorly-stylised, poorly-written, poorly-spelled sentence stub. The article existed for fewer than seven hours before being redirected to Len and ultimately to Len (band).)

Not only is Kids In America (Len Song) not an article, but the only time “Kids in America” appears in the Len (band) article to which it redirects, “Kids in America” is linked to Kim Wilde’s Kids in America (song). Moreover, the Kim Wilde Kids in America (song) article lists a large number of bands that have covered the song, including LEN’s 2000 cover.

To be clear, I have no problem with listing Wish You Were Here (Incubus song) alongside Wish You Were Here (Avril Lavigne song) and Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd song)—all on the Wish You Were Here disambiguation page—since all three of those are totally different songs that just happen to have the same title. But Kids In America (Len Song) is the same exact song as Kids in America (song); thus, by including both links, we are listing the same song twice.

This allows us to beg the following question.

Let’s say someone creates the following pages with the following redirects:

Were one to create such redirects, would anybody legitimately argue that they should be incorporated into this disambiguation page? Methinks not, since all of the above are merely covers of the same already-listed song and since none of the above covers are notable enough to merit their own article (lest they would not be redirects).

Indeed, if one were to argue that such redirects be incorporated, the person making the argument would likewise have to defend incorporating the following five already-existing redirects into this disambiguation page:

Kids In America (Len Song) → Len (band)
Kids In America (Len Song) - Len → Kids in America (song) (Kim Wilde)
Kids in America (No Secrets song) → Kids in America (song) (Kim Wilde)
Kids in America (No Secrets Song) → Kids in America (disambiguation)
Kids in America (No Secrets single) → Kids in America (song) (Kim Wilde)

Therefore, I make the following recommendation: that we remove Kids In America (Len Song) from this disambiguation page, at least until such a point in time as LEN’s cover of the song becomes notable enough to merit an actual article about said cover.
