February 2020[edit]

Regarding the CPR doll section, I tried to find the primary source, origin of the quote "the most kissed face of all time".

Reference 24 https://web.archive.org/web/20071209074602/http://www.mauriceblanchot.net/ doesn't mention "the most kissed face of all time" (and even if it did, I think the link is wrong and it would most likely be on this page: https://web.archive.org/web/20050413015324/http://www.mauriceblanchot.net/blog/index.php/2005/04/03/44-linconnue-de-la-seine)

Most pages on the internet cite the BBC article reference 4 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-24534069 but this is not a primary source. It sounds like the BBC article got the quote from the 2013 Paris performance of 'The Legend of L'Inconnue' by Mulberry Hawk sponsored by Laerdal.

I found this thumbnail image https://img.youtube.com/vi/AZskwWOr5xs/hq3.jpg from 2013 Paris performance of 'The Legend of L'Inconnue' by Mulberry Hawk where it says "Anne is the most kissed face of all time". Perhaps the quote "the most kissed face of all time" should be credited to Mulberry Hawk? Louiechristie (talk) 01:05, 28 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

November 2007[edit]

The statement that Hertha Pauli was the wife of Wolfgang Pauli is incorrect. They were brother and sister. 172.195.21.127 (talk) 22:51, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

L'Inconnue also makes an appearance as a character in the farce Die Chinesische Mauer, by Max Frisch (1972). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.30.3.122 (talk) 20:58, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

'The Recognitions' by William Gaddis mentions L'Inconnue once or twice. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.65.202.43 (talk) 04:57, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

June 2012[edit]

You know, this whole original story needs some serious sorting out. It smells heavily of Urban Myth to me. Where are the original Police reports, mortuary records, press appeals? Wasn't photography routine in 1880? When did the story first appear? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.144.252.82 (talkcontribs) 13:31, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Important source[edit]

Much detail on this at the BBC article, already briefly referenced in the article. Please take a look.[1]. Onanoff (talk) 17:44, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes - but it adds nothing to the authenticity of the received story - indeed the reverse.
There is now a full length book 'The Drowned Muse' by Anne-Gaelle Saliot on the literary / sociological impact of the Inconnue which has some important new facts - the first mention is its appearance in Charles Bague's 'Course de Dessin' 1867, where it is clearly a well established cast, so much earlier than the received accounts; and that two separate searches in the Paris archives have turned up nothing. I really think this is urban myth.

Is there anyway to locate the original source for the main image used on this page? Looking to find a high-res copy for a publication. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.108.80.237 (talkcontribs) 02:27, 24 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
