NPOV

[edit]

If I remember correctly Lycos Europe did NOT do a DDOS attack and it was NOT illegal. However, I don't remember enough specifics to make a quality change to this article. --Kurt 06:59, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please give more info abt co

make LOVE not SPAM

[edit]

There's really not much known or told about this program, and it's not distinct an article enough to have made it past stub size since it's creation. Therefore, I suggest it be merged into the parent article.ip.address.conflict —Preceding unsigned comment added by 164.159.255.67 (talk) 20:04, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've had a go at merging it, no one has objected Silent52 (talk) 01:18, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DDOS powers for good?

[edit]

Lycos Europe launched what is, yes, essentially a DDOS attack on multiple spam servers. However, since blatant spam is illegal in the EU and US, the movement was technically (I emphasize technically) legal as a form of ignored vigilante-ism (for lack of a better word).

Personally, I think Lycos US should revive the initiative. But that's just me.

According to http://mlns.starring.se/ which was/is the linked website from make love not spam it was a DDOS attack, I'm sure if it had been judged legal they wouldn't have shut it down after a month.Silent52 (talk) 01:20, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Withdrawal of email and other services

[edit]

Lycos Europe have withdrawn many of their services and therefore the article could do with being updated, but if there are other editors who are already editing this article then they could perhaps do it? I don't want to make major changes- I'm not a Lycos user and only came across this when I followed a link to an article on Lycos from Wikipedia. I did dig up a few links, though: [1], [2] [3]

I will have a go myself if there is no response. Orientalmoons (talk) 23:25, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the Lycos IQ link because it's among the withdrawn services. Digifiend (talk) 12:19, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

LYCOS EuropeLycos Europe — I've correctly formatted this request; not sure as to its merits. I'm bumping it to the top of Wikipedia:Requested moves so people can talk about it. -GTBacchus(talk) 02:00, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry - I had added this request based on the standard capitalisation style adopted across over articles. Wikiwoohoo (talk) 15:21, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. :) -GTBacchus(talk) 00:18, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
