Genus confusion[edit]

What is it exactly? This article currently links to [1] which redirects to "Leucophaeus atricilla". And that page is a member of the category [2]. I was going to change the article to point to the "category" page instead of the hand-crafted Larus atricilla page. Seeing how there has been recent edit changes concerning the genus name, I'll leave this note in talk page instead. Fred Hsu 19:37, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Leucophaeus is correct, though the situation is complex and there are issues within the Larus sensu lato that remain unresolved (or rather, have not yet been resolved to an entirely satisfactory level). If interested in the matter, I can recommend reading the article listed among ref's in genus article Leucophaeus. • Rabo³ • 04:35, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I just thought that linking to the category page would be better than linking to a hand-creafted page. Making that change now. Fred Hsu (talk) 02:01, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
