Hi. As the entry's author, I'd like to note that this is one of a series of articles about child murder and infanticide in colonial New Zealand, a subject which tends to be overshadowed by the case of Minnie Dean. However, this emphasis does not pay enough attention to nuances around court cases and public perceptions of child deaths during the late colonial era in this country. Therefore, I have added references to the cases of Phoebe Veitch, Winifred Carrick and Caroline Whitting in this context. As you may note, I've added a reference article that brought my attention to the relative neglect of this issue in online New Zealand social history.
