The faculty and alumni sections should probably only be populated with people that have Wikipedia pages. There is actually quite a lot of those floating around on Wikipedia but no one has bothered to link them to the university page. I removed the people from faculty that did not have their own Wikipedia page since if they are notable, surely they should have their own Wikipedia page first. At the same time, please don't remove former or emeritus faculty of distinction that have their own Wikipedia pages. For instance, someone removed Stig Hagström from the notable faculty section. He was one of the founders of the university and a world-famous researcher in materials science. These people belong to the category of notable faculty as long as their affiliation status (emeritus or former staff) is indicated appropriately. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Suulii766 (talkcontribs) 22:52, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Logo and seal[edit]

As described in the edit summaries the old logo is still used as a seal. See https://www.liu.se/liu-nytt/arkiv/nyhetsarkiv/1.634867?l=en and page 21 of https://www.liu.se/insidan/kommunikationsstod/grafiskprofil/start/1.635075/LiU_Grafisk_manual_150520.pdf (in Swedish). Just like MIT and UCLA, Linköping University has both a seal and a logo. Oskar Sundström (talk) 17:55, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

How the current seal looks can be seen in page 22 and page 23 in the document linked above. Oskar Sundström (talk) 17:58, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The logo you are refering to is no longer in use. Neither in diploma or any other situation. The old logo is totaly irrelevant. If you still disagree you can contact the institution. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HermanLjung2 (talkcontribs) 18:06, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The information on the official website contradicts what you say. Please provide a source for your claims. If this is official it should be written on the official website. Oskar Sundström (talk) 18:15, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The new logo should be used in any occasion as symbol for Linköping University. To avoid any misunderstanding preferably in B/W. The old seal is only used as ceremonial token and for some very specified purposes. /Magnus Johansson, LiU communications and marketing division

Plant speed dating[edit]

Under the history section, the sentence "In June 2017 the gender studies faculty arranged a workshop where humans could speed date plants and do yoga." keeps being re-added. This sentence is largely irrelevant as it is an isolated event with no impact on the rest of the university.

It seems to be trivia which looks like it is at least frowned upon by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Handling_trivia.

JPxG sugested in a recent re-adding of the text that "maybe you could put it in a different section". However, as far as I can tell, there is no section where it would fit at the moment, and such a section would most likely become a "trivia section"

Undue Weight to Science parks?[edit]

The section on Science parks has been expanded, and includes several photos. However, the science parks are not a formal part of LiU, not even as minority share holders. Both the Linköping and Norrköping science parks are structures of the municipalities, with the cooperation of property development companies. While it can be strongly argued that the Mjärdevi Science Park has played a major role in bringing LiU and LiU alumni innovations to the market, I'm uncertain as to the current text, which implies a organizational proximity rather than the geographical one. Does this constitute Undue Weight? OJH (talk) 07:28, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
