Untitled[edit]

I've updated the top 100 players as of 06-07. I cannot find up to date stats beyond that, so I decided to hide the list beyond 100 for now, so it can be properly updated to avoid error IrisKawling 09:33, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect List ?[edit]

I was just reviewing this list and I see that there are 207 players with another 11 joining in the 2007-08 season (as of March 11 2008 with Dallas Drake just playing his 1000th). But... in Keith Tkachuk's profile on NHL.com it says "Skated in his 1,000th career NHL game on Dec. 1 vs. Chicago becoming the 224th player in NHL history and the 28th US-born player to skate". By my count, Tkachuk is the 214th member. So either Wikipedia is incorrect or the NHL/St.Louis Blues player profile is incorrect. Why is Brett Hull listed as an American? Although he played for the USA internationally he was born in Canada and for list involving nationality he is typically listed as Canadian i.e. he is not consider the top goal scoring American. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Leech44 (talk • contribs) 21:15, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

We list based on country they played for internationally and if they haven't played internationally we go by birth location. Since he has played internationally with the US. That is why he is listed as american. -DJSasso (talk) 03:16, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Break up the table?[edit]

To make the article more wieldy for editors, I think that the table should be separated three ways: by every 250 games (i.e., 1500+, 1250-1499, and 1000-1249 games played) above 1000 games. Your thoughts? --AEMoreira042281 (talk) 04:04, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistency in "teams played for" listing[edit]

I'm not sure I like seeing teams listed twice if a player played for them on two separate occasions, but that's a debate for another day. However, whether a team is listed once or twice is not handled consistently.

For example, Brendan Shanahan (#11 on the list) is shown as playing for New Jersy twice (at the beginning and end of his career). However, Glen Wesley (#34) is shown as playing for Boston, Hartford, Toronto, Carolina, although the proper sequence should be Boston, Hartford, Carolina, Toronto, Carolina, since he moved from Hartford to Carolina with the team. One might argue that in this case, Hartford and Carolina are the same team, and that the sequence is therefore correct, but the next player on the list, Joe Sakic (#35), is shown as playing for Quebec and Colorado, which are also the same team. Similarly, Teppo Numminen (#39 on list) is listed as playing for both Winnipeg and Phoenix, with no stops between them. Still active[edit]

MOS:FLAG[edit]

The manual of style is clear, flag icons should not be used in this fashion (emphasizing nationality without good reason, particularly since the "nationality" here is "last international team player was in", which has nothing to do with their NHL career), should not be used by themselves and should not be arbitrarily added to highlight the non-Canadians. If it's concensus to keep nationality in this article, it's very easy to add a column to all the entries, and, to be rigorous, it should probably reflect the country of birth, as, again, international play has nothing to do with the stats here. Such column could be with or without flag icons, and, in the case of including the icons, the first time an icon appears, it should be with the country name, using {{flag|country}} instead of {{flagicon|country}}, and should give the info for all players, not just the non-Canadians.--173.179.240.7 (talk) 19:10, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As a compromise, how about a nationality column showing just the flag. Before the list include a key with flag, country name and optionally the number of 1000 game players from that country. Despite my love of seeing the Canadian flag, I agree that it ends up dominating the list. A column with just the flag if there is a key table is fine too. If there is going to be flags, it has to be for everyone, Canadians included, per MOS:FLAG. Otherwise it's undue weight calling attention visually to non-Canadian players. I don't think the nationality info is needed at all in this article, as it has nothing to do with the NHL, but if concensus is to add such information, it needs to follow the guidelines, that's all.--173.179.240.7 (talk) 19:14, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Denote teams for which a player hit their 1,000th game?[edit]

Merge two sections into one[edit]

Would it be possible to simply merge the games played sections “1000-1049” and “1050-1099” into “1000-1099 games played”? I think it would make for a neater chart if you ask me. Marino13 (talk) 09:10, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Franchise Active Games Played Leaders[edit]

An invisible comment states “PLEASE DO NOT UPDATE STATISTICS MID-SEASON, AS IT CREATES MORE PROBLEMS THAN IT SOLVES, AND WIKIPEDIA'S PURPOSE IS NOT TO PROVIDE UP-TO-THE-MINUTE STATISTICS. PLEASE SAVE THE UPDATING OF STATISTICS UNTIL THE END OF THE REGULAR SEASON AND/OR PLAYOFFS”. While I understand the general purpose of this rule, I believe its most recent uses, which have been reverting Rick Nash to the active leader for the Blue Jackets after Boone Jenner passed him, have been unnecessary. Other parts of this page have been updated mid-season (such as adding Lars Eller to the list after he reached 1000 recently), so I don’t believe updating a switch in a franchise’s all time leader should not be allowed. Simply put, Rick Nash is not the all time leader for Columbus, and using this invisible comment to keep him there is allowing factually incorrect information to remain for another 3-5 months. Coyotes Relocation[edit]

With the Arizona Coyotes now inevitably on the move to Salt Lake City, will that mean removing the franchise games played of Shane Doan and Teppo Numminen and starting over from zero? I'd just leave it as-is with a note that the franchise is currently inactive. If they end up ceasing operations entirely, we'll add some sort of defunct section.
