Proposed merge from List of higher education institutions in Hong Kong[edit]

Should anyone have any comments about my proposed merger, please discuss them there. Luke! 02:04, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The reason why I'm proposing this merge is to consolidate all the content onto this one article. This article already starts by listing some of the higher education institutions. The merger of content from the higher education institutions article will help ensure that this article is the central resource for list of schools (primary, secondary, tertiary) in Hong Kong. Luke! 17:36, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the merge. There should not be 1 list pointing to other lists. I am in favor in 1 complete list. Benjwong 01:19, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose merge. Each of the 5 lists has a decent size so they deserve their own articles. List of higher education institutions in Hong Kong is the shortest one, but its table format would ruin the organization of this list. There is nothing wrong with a list of lists; see List of schools in Canada, which is what I think this list should try to look like. –Pomte 01:26, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This is a discussion to merge List of higher education institutions in Hong Kong to List of schools in Hong Kong. We are only talking about merging the one article into this one - not five. List of schools in Canada is different. List of schools in Canada is a list about primary and secondary schools, for which Hong Kong already has similar articles. The List of Schools in Canada does not list higher education institutions. Luke! 02:08, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I mean it doesn't make sense to merge one and not the others. This article doesn't need to list the higher education institutions; it would be awkward with the entire higher education list here, but then have smaller lists below with link to the other lists. I would rather remove the list of higher education institutions from this article and merging that into List of higher education institutions in Hong Kong. In fact, if everything including the preschools get merged away from this article, then we can delete this article and no information would be lost. That's how this article is already serving as the central resource to all the school lists, so I'm not sure why expanding it would be an advantage. But I don't really care about this issue, if you think the merge will make reading and editing more organized, then go ahead and do it. On a side note, notice that a lot of these lists called "schools" do not include higher education institutions, though this distinction doesn't need to be made here. –Pomte 02:25, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose merge - It is ridiculous to merge a university and higher education institution list with the primary and secondary school list. This merge makes no sense. Arbiteroftruth 15:29, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose merge - Yes I agree. Keep the lists separate. People looking for schools in Hong Kong don't want to see Universities and vice versa —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.77.71.202 (talk) 05:26, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is way later... but keep in mind in Chinese universities are often included with "schools" while in English they usually are not. Since some Chinese L1 users may come here, it may be good to cater to them and include universities. WhisperToMe (talk) 08:44, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
