Clanricarde, Indiana was nominated for deletion. The discussion was closed on 17 September 2022 with a consensus to merge. Its contents were merged into List of communities in Porter County, Indiana. Some communities still exist[edit]

Initially, the list is to provide a summary of lost communities. Once I validate their status, some will be removed and independent articles created. Others will remain with no independent article. Others like the Tremont, Indiana article will be summarized in this article, but the independent article left standing.

Tremont is an example of a truly lost community. There is no residential or commercial remnant, and there appears to have never been more than a train station. So, there may be a need to discuss merging the Tremont, Indiana article into this one. But, I'll let that go until I have more of the unidentified communities listed. Development names vs. community names[edit]

The more I work with this information, the more I'm inclined to want to remove the development names that don't apply beyond the communities where they are used. It might be reasonable to also remove them from the 'unincorporated' Porter county communities template also.{Chris Light (talk) 16:01, 10 October 2009 (UTC)}[reply]

Mineral Springs, Indiana[edit]

I've seen mention of Mineral Springs, Indiana in several old books. It appears that this town was somewhere between Gary and Michigan City, probably north of Chesterton. It is probably within the modern Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Any additional information would be appreciated. It may have been a stop on an electric train line. How exactly does this list of 'communities' form a common topic?[edit]

This looks to me to be nothing more than an arbitrary list of places within Porter County. Many are clearly not 'lost' in any sense, and there is nothing in the article to suggest that they have ever been collectively referred to that way in third-party sources. In fact there doesn't seem to be any evidence presented that they form a coherent group at all. Some of the places may well individually meet Wikipedia's notability requirements, but I can't see what it is about this list that makes it notable as a topic. 86.147.197.31 (talk) 00:13, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
