Newman doesn't like being referred to as "Mark E. J. Newman". He always uses "Mark Newman" or "M. E. J. Newman". Wikipedia naming conventions state that names should be written as commonly used. So "Mark Newman" seems like the best choice here. Also I removed the word "American" because he's actually British. Nog33 (talk) 04:33, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There a lot of articles on scientists who are clearly good scientists, but really shouldn't have articles on them. I think it's reaching the point of silliness. Wikipedia is not supposed to be a place to post CV's.

Newman is one of the best known people in his field. He certainly meets notability guidelines. In science the best independent sources for notability are scientific articles by other scientists, and his work has been cited more than fifteen thousand times in the scientific literature, according to the Thompson Reuters Science Citation Index (I just checked).
