Illustration and other images[edit]

The illustration in the article box shows only a few Mastigamoeba spp., if any. M. invertans (1, 2) is Breviata anathema, M. radicula (16) and M. polyvacuolata (17, 18l, 18r) are not included in the species list provided as they are doubtful. So just M. longifilum (3, 4) remains. However this species is neither listed at UniProt/NCBI Taxonomy Browser nor AlgaeBase nor WoRMS, only at GBIF, ITIS and oldish NIES.

Concerning illstrations, I'd suggest to use M. aspera (AlgaeBase, NIES, Microworld, Penard Labs) and M. simplex (AlgaeBase, EOL, GBIF, ITIS, NIES, UniProt/NCBI) instead (available at Wikimedia Commons).

Furthermore there are a lot of microphotographs available in the internet, esp. at EOL (M. balamuthi, M. punctachora, M. simplex), Zarsky et al. (2021) Fig. 7a+b (Cysts), and others; see c:File_requests#Images_at_EOL. However AFAIK they are all CC-BY-NC, and as I learned the NC (non-commercial use only) makes them "not compatible" with Wikipedia as Wikipedia explicitely forces permission to use its material commercially (I wonder). What a pitty! So if you find any microphotographies that could be uploaded to Commons, please help (or let me know).

Thanks very much. --Ernsts (talk) 09:06, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
