Lebanese-Palestinian?[edit]

Her father is Lebanese and therefore even though she was born in Palestine and despite the fact that her mother was Palestinian she is de facto (by law) Lebanese.

Mayy Ziyādah (ALA-LC / DIN) 3,690
Mayy Ziadeh 329

May ZiadeMay Ziadeh – Per WP:COMMONNAME; "May Ziadeh" yields more results on Google (40,600 results), JSTOR, and Ngram Viewer than "May Ziade" (26,100 results). 92.184.96.51 (talk) 13:25, 18 October 2019 (UTC) --Relisting. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 01:34, 26 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There are also other transliterations: "Mayy Ziyadeh" and "Mayy Ziyade" --Robertiki (talk) 14:31, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Robertiki: Yes, but they are not as common as "May Ziadeh" (225 results for "Mayy Ziade" and 329 results for "Mayy Ziyadeh"). The scientific/ALA-LC transcription Mayy Ziyādah given in the lead is correct though and should not be modified. Other than that the lead could be rewritten this way to go with the renaming:

May Ziadeh[a] (Arabic: مي زيادة‎, ALA-LC: Mayy Ziyādah; 11 February 1886 – 17 October 1941) was...

Notes

  1. ^ Also transcribed Ziade, Ziyada, Ziyadah, Ziyadeh...
92.184.117.191 (talk) 17:03, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, "Mayy Ziyādah" yields 3,690 results. --Robertiki (talk) 00:07, 26 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Robertiki: Yes, this is the ALA-LC transliteration ; you can check with the following table: [1], it is the same used on other pages on Wikipedia (Kahlil Gibran, Francis Marrash...). 92.184.116.34 (talk) 04:55, 26 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support: This seems like a modest improvement in terms of WP:COMMONNAME. I also suspect that this transliteration is easier to understand for English-speakers, but not sure. Femke Nijsse (talk) 12:06, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Dr-Taher, FayssalF, FuzzyMagma, MezzoMezzo, and QalasQalas: Would one of you please provide the Arabic title & also translate the Arabic article title into English (trans-title) for this citation? The Google Books link displays images rather than text.
