Could use more content and statistics based on the percentage of ownership in Canada amongst the most popular media companies like Bell media and Roger, Should also state the regulations and thresholds that the CRTC has outlined in order to prevent a higher percentage of media concentration. I totally agree, it's like Rogers/Bell et all are pipelines not media outlets...Rogers sold all their magazines, and radio stations. Wikipedia - Can we better define what media is, who actually owns the content vs pipelines vs platform and technology.[edit]

I feel like Rogers/Bell/Corus/Quebecor are just a part of old media (TV/Radio/Mags) - and the word media has changed what it means. The Globe and Mail, Post Media Group, Toronto Star are as much media as they are news because social media and platforms like Meta have changed how we consume info. What about social media? And User Generated content like Youtube and others I mention below.

How many Canadians under the age of 15 think of any of these company or their Radio or TV offerings as media. I don't know how to address this at all but media, social, digital interaction (snapchat/insta/TT) are all part of User Generated Content and Media (Under the umbrella UGC).

If we look specifically at Rogers publicly available financial results. They make 90%+ of gross Revenue and ALL it's profit from it's non media business which are cell phones, wireless plans and internet https://investors.rogers.com/financials/financial-reports/ And didn't Rogers sell all their radio and Magazines anyway? They are hardly a media company.

And if news is now content or media as we say, then how do we incorporate that into this? And more and more media and news are being concentrated in CDN and US private equity - See Torstar sale to Nordstar PostMedia purchased by US equity firm Chatam Asset Management https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/16/business/media/hedge-fund-chatham-mcclatchy-postmedia-newspapers.html and others.
