The Blackpool championships are of the highest standimg, and are the longest-lasting series of competitions in ballroom dancing by far. But they are NOT world championships. The world professional ballroom championships are run by the World Dance Council and by no-one else. Sometimes they may be held in Blackpool, but mostly not. The 2012 world prof latin championships have not yet been held. They will be in Innsbruck, Austria on 20th October 2012.

The prof ballroom (standard) world championship will actually be held in Blackpool, 18 November 2012.
