pro life, anti death penalty[edit]

Pappas strongly opposed both abortion and the death penalty - a viewpoint unusual among politicians, though consistent with Catholic teaching. I think this distinctive stance, which was mentioned in contemporary news accounts, is worth including in the article, but I have refrained from editing it in for lack of an exact citation.
