Balio and Sunder[edit]

"Balio is one of the assassins that are hired by McNeil to assassinate Ryu, Rei, and Teepo after the trio steals McNeil's tax money. He is Sunder's brother."

"Sunder is one of the assassins that are hired by McNeil to assassinate Ryu, Rei, and Teepo after the trio steals McNeil's tax money. He is Balio's brother."

Incorect, these guys don't work for Mcniel, They work for the Syn City guy that collects protection money from him.

Also, on the 1st balio and sunder fight, using a gameshark to drop the hit points out from under will result in a win and exp gain, however the game continues as if you lost. --4.225.234.228 02:07, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The method the programmers used to make them invincible was to fake your damage by having you actually attack just an image placeholder resulting in them staying at max HP, so that makes sense. 216.46.210.198 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 05:11, 23 April 2009 (UTC).[reply]

This article needs major love![edit]

Okay, Breath of fire III is one of my favorite RPGs of all time and yet, this article does it absolutely no justice. I haven't beaten the game and so I don't have the required knowledge to write this article out myself. If anyone actually peruses the talk page of this shoddily written article, who happens to have beaten the game(and remembers it well.), then please, rewrite this hunk o' junk. Trying..[edit]

Since i have been a huge Fan of BoF 3 ever since it came out, completing it numerous times, i feel i have enough knowledge about the game to do as much as i can on this page, although the page was missing a gameplay column(how?) i will try and fill it up best i can. Kaiser forms?[edit]

Source on this section, please? The Brood Elder transforms into a Kaiser? Teepo does too? Where does it say that in the game?

GA nomination on hold GA passed[edit]

After reviewing the article, I've decided to put the article's GA nomination on hold, rather than failing or nominating it outright. I think it is a very good article, and very close to GA status, except for a few lingering isseus:

  • The main problem I've found is the sourcing for the images. Although the image pages do give a general website source ("CD Covers Database" for example) the image pages should give the specific webpage and image page. So for example, if someone was to use any of the images in this article and give its source, it would be insufficient to just say "Wikipedia". Instead, it should give the page it is found on (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Breathoffire3_box.jpg or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breath_of_Fire_III), as well as the image page (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/86/Breathoffire3_box.jpg). I know I worded that very clumsily, but hopefully that made some sense. For an example of what I mean, check out this image which I uploaded.
  • The intro is a bit short. Ideally the introduction should summarize the entire article. A sentence about audio, a sentence about development, and a sentence about critical reception and you're good to go.
  • In the intro it says "It is the third video game in the Breath of Fire series, and the first to feature three-dimensional environments and effects, as well as several new gameplay elements." What are these new "gameplay elements?" Every video game ever made has new "gameplay elements," so stating that so simply seems somewhat redundant. A simple "...gameplay elements, such as ___, ___, and ____." would probably suffice.
  • A few minor grammar/prose problems:
    • "...and features a number of supporting characters who aid him on a journey that leads them across the world and eventually confront a mad goddess." (run on sentence)
    • "While moving about the game's environment, a each character..." (extra a. awkward use of the word "about")
    • "This version, though largely siilar to its original release,..." (similar)
    • "...making it the 24th most-bought game that year.[29]." (extra period)
    • "...were criticised for slowing the pace of the game's story[3]" (misspelled criticized. no period)
  • Is it really neccessary to wikilink "cat"?
  • Reference #19 uses Amazon.com as a source. I wouldn't consider Amazon to be a reliable source.
  • Overall the references are well done, thought as always I'd prefer to see more. They are sufficient for GA nomination though.
  • Overall the prose is pretty well done as well: clear and precise. Except for the few grammar/prose issues detailed above it is a well-written article.

Those are my main issues with the article. Only the first one is anything major, the remaining points are minor things that should be easy to fix. I'll put the article on Hold for the next few days. Hopefully someone can find the time to improve the article a bit more. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to let me know here or on my Talk page. When you're ready for me to re-review the article and (hopefully) nominate it to GA status, let me know. Good luck! Drewcifer3000 09:43, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your thorough review, Drewcifer, I appreciate that you took the time to examine it so closely. All of your suggested changes were made, including adding more specific source info for images, correcting spelling/typo problems, and re-sourcing the Amazon.com reference. I went ahead and corrected a few other spelling and flow mistakes as well. If you need anything else for the page, feel free to ask. Nall 22:04, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good. A few minor lingering issues remain: "He is accompanies by..." (accompanied), the last period of the last sentence, and for some reason the "Direct Source" link for the US box art doesn't work for me. Might want to check on that. Assuming you can check on those things, I'd say this is a great article and definately worthy of GA status. Good job and keep up the good work! Drewcifer3000 22:40, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
D'oh, I mis-typed that when I was making your changes, it's fixed now. CD-Cover has some issues with direct linking (technical, not site policy or anything), so I'll look into getting that link fixed. Thanks for the speedy responses! Nall 23:05, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, full-dates in the footnotes should be linked, as per WP:MOS. Epbr123 16:25, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can tell all the references are linked appropriately, since they mostly use citation templates. Any date linking issues have to do with the templates not the article. Which footnotes in particular are you concerned about? Drewcifer3000 16:44, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Major Story Section Revisions[edit]

Some improvements in the Story section are acceptable, but a few of the recent revisions were poorly organized and significantly increased the length of the section. Aside from that, my initial impressions of the actual content were not favorable. Some of the edits may have use though, so I (or someone else) will look through them later to see what's salvagable. For now though I'm reverting the page in a manner I've indicated on the article's history page. Paltheos 14:01, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No PSP version in NA cite[edit]

The link provided as a cite for the reason for no PSP verison in NA appears to no longer be linking to the proper information. Can another cite (or archived version of the first cite) be provided by someone?76.226.96.208 (talk) 20:30, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No North American PSP version?[edit]

My apologies, but I have to ask if this information is entirely accurate. Was the PSP version never actually released in the US? Because my friend has a PSP, and an English copy of this game, and he didn't import it. So I'm confused. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.116.125.125 (talk) 16:23, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

bad character section[edit]

it needs more information about the characters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.208.75.209 (talk) 21:54, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Missing Information?[edit]

Breath of Fire 3 was the first in the series to start using the somewhat ugly non-dragon transformations for Ryu, as well as a "form" which results in Ryu not actually changing his shape. Unless I missed it somewhere in the article, I thought it would be important to mention under the gameplay section. Also the Reception section seems largely biased in favour of the game doing remarkably well, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't so warmly received when it first came out. Sure a little searching could find some of the less positive reviews/criticisms the game got. The sudden change from Bleu to Deis (which is covered, at least) as well as her suddenly being elevated to a goddess confused people, as well as the sudden extinction of the Dragon Tribe for little reason, possibly because no one actually recognized Myria as being the same end boss from Breath of Fire 1. I myself actually never knew that, despite having followed the series quite closely until BoF4 when it went into hibernation before 5. Actually, I must admit that until recently I had always thought of BoF3 is being unrelated to the first two games cause the storyline made little sense. Although that could have been more joys of mistranslation, to be honest... --Dakmordian (talk) 15:29, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
