Note[edit]

In spite of the reference to him in the cited newspaper (Cork Advertiser, 8 April 1852) as being a Whig, William Schaw Lindsay stood as a Liberal in the April 1952 election. This is clear from a later paragraph of the Cork Advertiser article and from a letter from Lindsay on page 8 of The Times of 5 April 1852. Lindsay had scant respect for the Whigs and was closer to being a Cobdenite Radical. He later became the Liberal member first for Tyneside and North Shields and then Sunderland. Unfortunately I've forgotten how to use Wikipedia so my attempt to correct the error failed. Robert Cutts Bristol Filer (talk) 06:28, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Query[edit]

William Fortescue (died 1629) is listed as an MP for MB here, but this isn't backed up by his article on History of Parliament ([1]) and there don't seem to be any other William Fortescues listed for that period. Boleyn (talk) 15:41, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

History of parliament lists two William Fortescues as does wikipedia however, someone has inserted a re-direct and merged the biographies. Check William Fortescue disambiguation. Graemp (talk) 18:34, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
