recon[edit]

Is it just me or have they made Delta Dawn a lot more prettier/cuter/adorable/cherubic in the latest recon? She also seems to have been given a Girliness Upgrade. Paul Benjamin Austin (talk) 00:35, 26 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Paul Benjamin Austin: They did a revision after their technology was improved. In general, it seems that a lot of forensic artists tend to fall into the habit of making the subject look better. --GouramiWatcherTalk 03:14, 26 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions[edit]

@Paul Benjamin Austin: Here are the suggestions you requested on my talk. Overall it looks good, neutral, no major prose problems.

  • I would recommend expanding the lead to include a description of the girl and some about the investigation and aftermath. A summary of the rest of the article.
  • I did a little reworking of the first sentences in Discovery and circumstances, but I think it could still use some work for logical flow.
  • Are there any other similar cases that could be added to the See also section?
  • It's pretty sparse on sources, which is understandable since it's such an old case with probably mostly offline articles. But if there's any way to find some of those (e.g. any of these) I think the article would benefit.
  • Did you check out this source? I don't know if it meets RS but if it does it's got some useful context. e.g. the woman walking with the baby was wearing a blue plaid shirt.

Overall looking good! Any more info or sources you could add would be good. Let me know once you've added some to the lead if you want me to take another look! delldot ∇. 21:03, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"deputy's daughter" is referenced in the ref list[edit]

the article in which the fact is mentioned is also republished here - http://scaredmonkeys.net/index.php?topic=2433.0;wap2 Paul Benjamin Austin (talk) 03:38, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

http://scaredmonkeys.net/ is not a source that even remotely meets WP:V. AldezD (talk) 03:40, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Aye. The sheriff who was concerned his daughter may be the decedent was named Murphy (forget his first name). Deputy Virgil Moore and his wife, Mary Ann, later organized the child's funeral. It is hearkened to in references and can easily be found on the web. Facebook transposing the exact text etc. I know what sources are reliable and otherwise. Problem here is that now those sources are premanent dead links and we cn only find them in transposed format on unreliable sources (unless Wayback Machine can provide otherwise). Well... I respect integrity. I'll say no more, other than I suppose the info. in the removed note was hardly the most pertinent piece of information. --Kieronoldham (talk) 04:15, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

awkward phrasing[edit]

"...drowned in a suspected filicide before her body was thrown from the eastbound Interstate 10 bridge into the Escatawpa River"

Um, how can she drown *before* she was tossed into the river? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 14.2.163.201 (talk) 08:06, 2 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I read a comment from another editor on a talk page many years ago, which stated: "There is nothing more irritating than reading [talk page] complaints from editors who do nothing to improve Wikipedia articles themselves." In any case, it's been resolved. Thanks.--Kieronoldham (talk) 23:14, 2 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Article title[edit]

Would "Death of ..." possibly be more appropriate in this case? I can't seem to find any article or direct law enforcement quotes that specifically labels this as a homicide/murder case. Connormah (talk) 03:07, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Prior to her identification, there were various sources confirming the infant had been smothered before she was thrown into the river, where she subsequently drowned. In addition, this is confirmed by databases such as The Doe Network. There is no possible way her death could have been acciental or unintentional, as the possibility of her wandering into the river herself has never been mentioned as a potential scenerio. Without a doubt, the victim was murdered. --GouramiWatcherTalk 04:02, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
