My Name Is Anthony GonzalvesMy Name Is Anthony Gonsalves — song takes precedence over film, which is based on the song —∞ΣɛÞ² (τ|c) 13:46, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

Any additional comments:
  • Surely the first thing that we need to do is decide what is the correct spelling for the character / song - Gonsalves or Gonzalves. IMDB and this article both use z - if that is the case, the page should not be moved (but the redirect might be amended). -- Beardo 17:59, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Look at the sources referenced: they all spell it "Gonsalves". IMDB spells it with an "s". Again, the point is, the song came first--in the 1977 movie Amar Akbar Anthony. The only place that gets it wrong is the article's name. ∞ΣɛÞ² (τ|c) 04:57, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No - IMDB spells the name Gonzalves in connection with "Amar Akbar Anthony" - http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0075669/, it is spelled "Gonsalves" when referring to the inspiration, and the 2007 film. -- Beardo 05:11, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Regardless if that one minor incorrect misspelling is present on a user-contributed database, the point is there are many more sources which spell it "Gonsalves" than the only ONE prone-to-error source that misspells it (which I have submitted a correction update for). Again, the name of the song on IMDB (as I have previously linked to above--visit it this time, eh?) spells it "Gonsalves". ∞ΣɛÞ² (τ|c) 15:48, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So IMDB is unreliable when it contradicts you, but a source when you think it supports you ? In fact, your link is to an unreleased film - that data is much more likely suspect than the original film which has been released in multiple forms. Imdb does not have a page for the song ! Do you have a reliable source that is about the character from the original film ? -- Beardo 15:27, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Um, Beardo, are you even bothering to actually go to the IMDB site? I already gave you a link to the actual song entry itself which spells it with an "s": My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves. Again, the only place that spells it with a "z", on IMDB, is on Amar Akbar Anthony when mentioning the person who plays Gonsalves (Amitabh Bachchan). IT APPEARS MISSPELLED NOWHERE ELSE! Try doing some research--look at the sources/references used on the Wikipedia articles--THEY ALL SPELL IT "GONSALVES"! I tire of having this broken record debate with you... ∞ΣɛÞ² (τ|c) 20:30, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was requested that this article be renamed but there was no consensus for it be moved. --Stemonitis 09:05, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
