I[edit]

I added a factual accuracy tag regarding this section: "The system's development was instigated on February 28, 2003 by President George W. Bush, who in Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD)-5, Management of Domestic Incidents directed the Secretary of Homeland Security to develop and administer the system. After the proposed system went through a period of vetting and coordination among federal agencies, NIMS was released by Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge on March 1, 2004.".

Misleading at best; NIMS used to be known as NIIMS (National Interagency Incident Management System) and dates back to 1982. KleenupKrew (talk) 22:54, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Although the evolution of the US national response plan can have its roots traced back to before Bush's administration, this article is about NIMS specifically. NIMS is not the same thing as NIIMS. From NIMS, an Introduction (online indepentdent study course)
The section you quote is not misleading at all. Adding citation, removing factual accuracy tag. Feel free to add history of NIMS as it pertains to NIIMS to this article. --Shaggorama (talk) 18:24, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Consolidate Incident Command System Page to this one[edit]

Consideration to consolidate the Incident Command System (ICS) page into this one since ICS is in actuality replaced by the NIMS. What do you think? Paradiver (talk) 22:30, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Contact information[edit]

Should the article really contain contact details and a "for further information contact..." section? Yvh11a (TalkContribs) 20:22, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Gutted[edit]

I cut out the copyvio & adverts, and there's practically nothing left of the article. The little that's there is still mostly incomprehensible, but I wanted to leave something more than the title. Hey, here's an idea: In the lead, why don't we say what the NIMS is, rather than just pasting gibberish from their promotional brochures? — kwami (talk) 23:50, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion[edit]

I have been adding more information based on the NIMS doctrine. I am currently writing my edits in my user page here. I am working to make the status of this page a good article. Prairie Astronomer Talk 01:50, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
