Unnecessary edit

Quoting Another notable racing accolade took place when the Super GT NISMO MOTUL AUTECH Z race car driven by Richard Lyons set the fastest time of 49.51 seconds during the prestigious goodwood festival of speed hill climb on the 9th of July 2006. Closely beating a Beating a 2006 Williams Cosworth clocked at 50.05 seconds(F1 cars have recently been banned from racing flat out because of safety concerns). For reference the all-time official record is 41 seconds set by Mika hakkinen driving a McLaren MP4/13 in 1999.

I originally removed it as that edit made it seem as if a fun event is more important to winning the Super GT title, until some guy accused me of vandalism. As a multiple times visitor, which each one have been good for me, here is a few thing to make it clear

  • That is not supposed to be a serious event, more like a fun event, therefore I referred to it as a "fun run" as referred by a fellow visitor and the event is a chance for drivers to do PR stuff and allow them to interact with enthusiasts.
  • I don't get to see many cars with entries about the event as lengthy as that, therefore the time it ran should be mentioned at the Goodwood Festival of Speed entry which I have done.
  • If this is more imporant, then why I don't see any race wins in historic events featured in chassis number informations on race cars such as Porsche 962 on the internet or when they appear on sale.
  • Also the driver who holds the record is Nick Heidfeld, not Hakkinen who didn't appear that year

Can anybody let me know how relevant is this entry as I am very keen to delete? Willirennen 19.00 14 November 2006

Since nobody replied, I have deleted it 18.20 22 November 2006

CAN YOU please stop removing that paragraph vandalising the page Willirennen I know you DISLIKE japanese cars (example the extensive negative comments on the 350z interior that was removed recently)

the record lap at goodwood is a notable achievement because it is the FIRST TIME ANY Super GT car has ever visited Europe and it out paced a 2006 f1 car by 1 second.

IF YOU want to make a vote at least wait more than 2 DAYS for a reply.

BY THE WAY I said "official" NOT unofficial lap record * Nick Heidfeld made a unofficial test run before the event taken place so please get your facts straight.

EDIT TYPER

So, you STILL are accusing me of edits I never done (example the extensive negative comments on the 350z interior that was removed recently), funny that was I wrote the first section edit called Concepts only to have that edited off by somebody, which wasn't making sense or explained the date of its first Detroit show appearance, which I had to edit back.
If I DO DISLIKE Japanese cars which AS YOU ARE ACCUSING ME OF, I would never have started or even wrote most of the D1 Grand Prix page which is a series dominated by Japanese cars and most of the pages involved, NEVER MIND starting the Japanese Touring Car Championship, All Japan Sports Prototype Championship, both series that consisted of Japanese cars or even the Option which is a well known Japanese car magazine that deals with Japanese cars which I have 10 copies at home or even made a mass edit on the Mazda 787B, another Japanese car by name and engine with an intention to turn it into a feature article. Also its funny for you to say that when I wrote much of the edit on the Nissan Micra before that became merged to the Nissan March page
THAT goes to prove YOU don't bother to look up at people's edit history before you open your mouth and ASK yourself this, have you ever been to the Fos before, if so other than this year which year as you haven't replied to THAT yet.
Also, one thing you got WRONG is, the 350Z is NOT the first Super GT car to even appear at the FoS or even UK or Europe, the FoS one goes to the 1997 title winning Castrol TOM'S Supra and the ex-JGTC NSX who subsequently entered the 24 hours of Nurburgring, both was there in 2005 and ALSO at the 2000 Autosport show, there was a JGTC Dome Takata NSX that was at the HKS stand. You probably would be too stubborn to even check up to realise that JGTC and Super GT are the same series, which it says in the talk page or it say there... SuperGT is a direct renaming of JGTC, they're not two seperate series. It was just a marketing move to try to encourage expansion to China, Australia and the US. BTW I added the GT300 table and some of the history on THAT page when it was called All-Japan Grand Touring Championship
Going back to how a Super GT car could do faster than a F1 car, well a hillclimb marshall told me that as F1 courses tend to be flat, the cars are designed NOT to go uphill as the oil pump is not located in an area to make it effective uphill. Also many of these driver know that they are not going to be officially timed as that event is NOT going to enhance their careers other their public relations with fans and for winners, all they get is a trophy and a bottle of champange, also with some small prize.
Replying to another one you are accusing me of, Nick Heidfeld times was actually mentioned in the 2000 program as the fastest time of that year, which I have, as the Hakkinen's times have never been mentioned to me before or anywhere else and that made a unofficial test run before the event taken place so ITS YOU WHO SHOULD GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.
Going back to that its just you who object to it the removal of that section, SO WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO, GET ALL YOUR WEBFRIENDS FROM ALL THE FORUMS YOU'RE IN AND MYSPACE TO START A CAMPAIGN AGAINST ME, SO THEREFORE I'LL BE WATCHING YOU. Willirennen 23.10 30 November 2006 (UTC)
As for that, I agree with the bottom one and that reply above and I dont mean EDIT TYPE-R, it really isn't all that necessary, Why cant wikipedians just get along rather fight like kidergarten kids, this page is getting into another stupid edit war just like the rest of them Garth Bader

References

Much of this article still remains unreferenced, specifically the models and motorsport sections. I don't want to dump {{fact}} tags all over the place, but this info needs to be verified from reliable sources, otherwise it counts as nothing more than speculation. As I do apologise for generalising, I will say this, so many modern car people nowadays have never been interested in the history behind the car and its ancestry of the model, as they rather be obsessed with how fast they did on public roads or how they pulled a attractive woman with their car. Before some clever clogs deleted that bit, which I had to revert, I wrote the Concept part from two books, most of it was sourced from Brian Long's Nissan 300ZX and 350Z[1] which I own and another called Lust, Then Love: The Story of the New Z[2], which I borrowed from a friend, so I hope this will give you enough proof. Sorry to say, but if that is deleted this page will never become feature material, as every cars have to have a history and Nissan did not build the 350Z for nothing as the past edit made it out to be, they built the car to keep the Z's history in place. Willirennen 16.54, 6 December 2006 (utc)
Excellent! Now at least the history of the car's design comes from an authoritative source. This adds quality to the article and is a huge step towards bringing it up to featured status. btw there is a better way to cite the same source multiple times using ref tags, I will fix it next time if nobody does so. On another note though, the paragraph should still be rewritten in a more logical and chronological order so that the ideas flow intuitively from one to the next. 350Z UK owner's club

212.50.178.217 has re-added a link to the UK owner's club and has posted the following rationale on my talk page. I am repeating it here for the benefit of all editors (this should be posted on an article talk page rather than a user talk page):

Hello Zunaid, I am an owner of the 350Z in the UK, and have again added the link to the UK site in the wikipedia. This has been removed twice in the past, but please allow me to explain why I put it there. First of all the site is NON commercial, it does not ask for or make money from its users, its is free to view and free to register (unlike other uk 350Z sites there is no "paying" members section). The site has been mentioned twice in UK motor magazines EVO and Max Power as a free resource of information. The site contains information and guides written by owners for the use of other owners or any other interested party for free. Before removing this again, please would you take the time to visit the site and read the wealth of information that it has to offer on the 350Z. Many Thanks, Chris. 13.25 (GMT), 11 December 2006 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 212.50.178.217 (talk) 13:26, 11 December 2006 (UTC).

I will not revert this link myself again. Could other editors to please look at the site and determine whether it satisfies WP:EL? And please post back here so that in future this discussion can be referenced if it comes up again. Thanks. Zunaid©Please rate me at Editor Review! 14:17, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

The 350Z is really the seventh in the Z Line.

The author got it wrong about the 350Z being the 5th in the Z Line, it is really the seventh. The 350Z's predecesors are: 240Z, 260Z, 280Z, 280ZX and two versions of the 300ZX.

AJB2010 06:06, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

This is incorrect, as the 240Z, 260Z, and 280Z were all of the same (first) generation. The chassis codes for each generation are S30, S130, Z31, Z32, and the current Z33. 71.95.232.228 (talk) 13:33, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
