Tunnel Length Information Conflicts[edit]

These sources state that the tunn el is about nine kilometers in length, but several others (Several state the same thing and I could not recall where the others were, but there are a few just restating the same thing) state that it is exactly nine, or omit the approximate nature of the value. Which one should be used? This is in regards to someone who said that the tunnel was 9.4km. I do not think that it should say 9.4 without citation, but there are citations for "about nine". I was the one who undid the IP edit stating 9.4km. Since most of the citation are along the lines of about 9km or exactly 9km, I opt to retain it as 9km (no decimal places). Marcnut1996 (talk) 03:54, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
At the very least, should the fact that the 9km is approximate be clarified due to the fact that currently the article seems to say that the tunnel is exactly 9km? Vedvod My (bad) contribs Talk 00:03, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I will wait until NorthConnex opens and Google Maps show the road, then we can measure it and give a more accurate length. This was done for many other motorways in Sydney as well. Marcnut1996 (talk) 01:46, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. Vedvod My (bad) contribs Talk 03:52, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Map Copyright[edit]

Does anyone feel like drawing up a map or something? The NorthConnex map is under copyright, as is every other map that could be obtained from any map service. How would we add a map to the article? Vedvod My (bad) contribs Talk 00:13, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, I also have no experience in creating a map on wikipedia. Marcnut1996 (talk) 01:03, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest using OpenStreetMap, which has an Open Data Policy stated here. Thek22900 (talk) 11:34, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Done, OSM template with NorthConnex coordinates added to article Lordstorm (talk) 02:45, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

New route number coming (M11)[edit]

Drivers have started to report seeing signage indicating the NorthConnex will be the M11.

Found this document suggesting the changes are coming: https://www.tenders.nsw.gov.au/TfNSW/?event=public.cn.view&CNUUID=96F7359E-B80A-8E84-DE6AA661C2CAF471

I've not yet seen, nor can I find, any public announcement about the change however.

Keep an eye out :) ERupa (talk) 06:16, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting, I'm sure there will be a public announcement at some point in the near future to confirm the M11 route numbering. Marcnut1996 (talk) 09:52, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The M11 signage has now been installed, I think given this and the tender source it would make sense for this article and other relevant pages to be updated. Satellizer el Bridget (Talk) 04:34, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I know we'll need more evidence to support this conclusion before making any changes to the article - but given the signage around the road has been updated to show M11 TUNNEL and not NORTHCONNEX, the article should probably be renamed to "M11 Motorway (Sydney)". Just like WestConnex is the name of a project and not a road, it seems that NorthConnex is going to be treated in the same way (with the added complication that it was the name of the road too, but only for a while).
