Osho tournament[edit]

I suggest changing the name of this page to the "Osho tournament." Technically, this tournament is referred to as "Osho Sen"(王将戦) in Japanese. Since "Osho" is used to refer to the "king" in shogi and can be used in other non-shogi related contexts, maybe the tournament should get it's own page. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:30, 13 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Winner's list[edit]

Although the names and results are correct, the Western Calendar Years listed for each Osho final match do not coincide with the years given on the JSA (Japan Shogi Association: Nihon Shogi Renmei) website. The JSA uses the year in which the tournament started to classify each tournament, i.e., the 2012-2013 tournament began in 2012 so even the final match was played in 2013, the tournament is listed as the "2012 Osho Tournament" on the JSA website. I'm not sure which way is best: the year in which the tournament began, or the year in which the final took place. The NHL (National Hockey League) and the NBA (National Basketball Association) use the year in which the Stanley Cup Finals and NBA Finals took place to designate their Championship teams even though their respective seasons span two calender years, but the JSA doesn't count that way; it counts in the same way the NFL (National Football League) counts its Superbowls. Maybe the best thing to do would be to add another column, like the JSA website has, for counting the way the JSA does. For what it's worth a mention of this differences in "years" is made on the Japanese Wikipage for the Oshosen (Osho Tournament) -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:31, 13 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
