There is nothing in the this article that cannot be merged into Ventura County, California. As noted at Wikipedia:Proposed_mergers#July_2007, Oxnard-Thousand Oaks-Ventura is the only single-county Core Based Statistical Area in California that has its own article. — X ile 03:50, 15 July 2007 (UTC) - Talk[reply]

This article is not simply about Ventura County, it is about the metropolitan designation of this area by the White House OMB. This designation also includes city of Carpenteria, which is not in Ventura County, but is in Santa Barbara County, as well as Westlake Village and Agoura, which are actually in Los Angeles County but are included in the metro designation. 71.109.119.207 17:45, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This comment is now obsolete, as the White House OMB now prefers to draw metropolitan designations along county lines, not split counties apart. All of Santa Barbara County is now part of the Santa Barbara-Santa Maria-Goleta, CA area. All of LA County is part of the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana, CA area.
