Pressed enter too soon[edit]

Sorry, mistakely pressed enter before supplying an edit summary on the last revert: Just wanted to say that I don't understand the reason for the previous reversion (why remove 90% of the content on the page?). If there are particular bits that are controversial, then by all means point those out and people can chase up references. -- All the best, Nickj (t) 23:23, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jannali East[edit]

The reason Jannali East was removed from the description of surrounding suburbs is that is it not a suburb. The status of what is and what is not a suburb is decided by the Geographical Names Board of New South Wales. They are the people who officially decide whether something is a suburb or not, and they say Jannali East isn't - so that's why it was removed. The GNB do regularly contact councils and ask if they want any updates (e.g. new suburbs). From a recent email I got from them, they are planning to contact Sutherland Shire council soon, so it you wish to have the status of Jannali East offically changed, then please notify council and the GNB so that you can be involved in getting the status changed. -- All the best, Nickj (t) 23:31, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is all uncited[edit]

There is no cited information for any of the facts here. If you have some than by all means add it but otherwise I regard it as "unencyclopedic" to allow the unicited information to stand. All the best

What, exactly, do you dispute? Do you disagree with the proximity to the Princes Highway? Do you dispute the existence of Green Point? Do you deny the existence of schools in Oyster Bay? Please be specific about what, exactly, you disagree with. -- All the best, Nickj (t) 03:54, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hang on! It appears you added this content. Why, exactly, are you disputing yourself?! -- All the best, Nickj (t) 04:12, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
User:60.225.202.61 and User:Licinius (who are the same person) are trying to prove a point. I made this edit to remove un-encyclopedic material here which he then reverted. As you can see we also discussed it on my talk page, User talk:Licinius and User talk:Gyrofrog. Then because multiple editors reverted the edits (history) Lincinius now says that it's all hearsay. CambridgeBayWeather, you claimed some of what I wrote was legitimate cause for removal because some of it lacked cited facts. I now make the same claim for all of it. This is Wikipedia policy, if it is uncited than it is fair game for removal. Feel free to create citations but otherwise I am removing my contributions to the Oyster Bay page.

Finding references[edit]

Wooo - ok, time out, guys! Ok, can we, please assume some good faith. I have added back the stuff that does have UBD references and which you might have been over-keen in removing. Then, I also added something about the history of the suburb name, with references. There should hopefully be nothing controversial about either of these, because they are referenced facts. In terms of what was removed as uncited, that only leaves the roundabout controvesy stuff, the stuff about the shops, the slogan on the local church, and the sentence about the ecosystem. Of these, I think the definitely ecosystem and maybe the roundabout controversy stuff should be kept, if we can find references for them (e.g. news clippings, environmental lists about Oyster Bay, etc). So, if you know of any references for those two things (or anything else you think is notable), please add them. -- All the best, Nickj (t) 00:08, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well the problem, NickJ, is that I know these things because I grew up in the area(Shire). There might possibly details of these things in the SMH archives or the St george and Sutherland Leader, but otherwise I think that it would be almost impossible to find "written" sources about these things. 06:45, 7 February 2006 (UTC) Licinius
Nothing from the SMH, nor through google news. I couldn't see a searchable index for the Leader. Will this do as a ref for the mangroves? -- All the best, Nickj (t) 01:58, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah that is fine.

Okay, it's done. -- All the best, Nickj (t) 23:34, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
