Recent changes / call for more work

I recently added a large amount of text to this page. I tried to keep it NPOV, but my perspective is simply that of a person who loves to play and work on guitars, and owns 3 PRS instruments.

I'd encourage anyone with something to add to be bold in doing so. In particular, we're in need of a non-copyvio image to replace the current one. -Ikkyu2 23:48, 16 December 2005 (UTC)

I live in Stevensville so I might be able to get a picture of the factory, that is if I can remember to take one. -Jeff 18:34, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Is the section on Legal Issues of any real relevance in an encyclopedia? If trademark/copyright issues were listed for every company mentioned in Wikipedia, the encyclopedia would consist of precious little else.

It was a bit of a cause celebre with implications for anyone making a vaguely "Les Paul" shaped guitar. (IIRC, it was pointed out by one of the judges that if a PRS were to be mistaken for a Gibson in a smokey bar, it would be Gibson who would benefit.) I would say it's more a historical point - maybe it should be re-labelled "The Gibson Lawsuit".NickS 13:28, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Trent Reznor uses PRS?

I'm going to need some proof, as far as I know he only uses Les Pauls and the Dean Evo Noir. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Supuhfanng (talkcontribs) 22:55, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Nickelback

Too much written about the lead man. It's unnecessary to include what other guitars he may or may not use. 220.238.68.234 (talk) 15:21, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia

Please, please, this article would be better off as a short stub than as a long first-person narrative. It sounds like some excerpt from a magazine article. Apatterno 06:01, 9 August 2005 (UTC)

Indeed, it seems like someone copied and pasted from an online article, hopefully someone can clean this up -Jeff 20:44, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
prsguitars.com/inside/story.html It is a copy-paste (the prs story), and probably it is also part of a guitar brochure by PRS. Perhaps it should be replaced with a summary. MATIA 23:41, 17 September 2005 (UTC)
That makes it a copyvio and I ripped the offending text out. - furrykef (Talk at me) 17:19, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

It is because of Paul Reed Smith's willingness to purchase massive amounts poached curly maple that the Lacey Act, 16 U.S.C. §§ 3371-3378 was initiated A law demanding more strict certification of exotic woods . Paul was paying cash for poached curly maple throughout the 80's and. poacher's would strip bark off 20-30 to find one curly maple tree worth steeling and leaving total devastation. That is how he built his mega billion dollar business by pilfering thousands of trees from park land & privet property.

If you or any one you know has had there property violated during the 1980's Please Contact us. It may not be to late for monitory restitution. This picture represents $50,000 for just a small part of one of these awesome trees that were pillaged throughout Maryland Virgina's Ohio Delaware Pennsylvania and NJ During the 1980's and into the 90's

If someone would just do the math in Paul's own words "these curly trees are one in 1000 at best" how is it that paul gets all the very best of these trees. Paul had guys coming after 10:00pm with two pick up trucks towing 20' trailers. Paul always paid cash lots of it. These trees are like gold. These poachers only face a $2000 fine for poaching a 10 for a section of one tree that can sell for $40,000.

I didn't think it was such a big deal in 85 but a few years later I saw a report on the damage the poachers left. Someone should take dna samples from poached trees to match with his stock wood. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.253.114.205 (talk) 00:00, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

This article is about a company so it needs more info on the company itself. The infobox needs to be finished.

MEKAAL HASSAN?

Is this some guy who wanted to put his name in? Just a notice: We dont care if you have a myspace band with 20000 friends, you're not notable unless you have a record label.--Geobeedude 22:07, 25 November 2006 (UTC)Geobeedude

im totaly agree with this..base from experience your no one up until your a recording artist already — Preceding unsigned comment added by Billx6664 (talkcontribs) 17:45, 24 March 2011 (UTC) Paul Reed Smith was paying cash for poached curly maple throughout the time i worked at PRS.

If someone would just do the math in Paul's own words "these curly trees are one in 1000 at best" How is it that Paul Reed Smith was getting all the very best of these trees at a time when the regulations were so strict Gibson was having to put 3-5 pieces of wood together to make one guitar top or body. Paul Reed Smith had guys coming after 10:00pm with two pick up trucks towing 20' trailers One time they even had a horse trailer packed with curly. Paul Reed Smith paid cash lots of it.

I didn't think it was such a big deal in 85 but a few years later I saw a report on the damage the poachers left. Someone should take DNA samples from poached trees to match with his stock wood. He's probably still getting poached curly maple. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.253.114.205 (talk) 23:17, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Design

"The standard design of PRS guitars is like that of the Fender Stratocaster, though usually they are equipped with humbuckers" and have a 25" scale length rather than 25.5", a set neck rather than a bolt-on, an angled peghead rather than a parallel one, and a stop tailpiece rather than a trem or hardtail bridge. So not really like a Strat at all then.194.205.13.211 (talk) 14:43, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
