I blame both ennobled illiteracy (even amongst WP editors) and the rise of social media[edit]

The article clearly says

Despite the similar catalogue number, there is no relation between the tracks on this CD and the tracks on the corresponding LP.

yet the article's very first words are

Pebbles, Volume 7 is a compilation album among the CDs in the Pebbles series

The article title makes clear that it is supposedly about the 1994 album, therefore NOT about the CD of similar title. (NOT "the same" because the CD is subtitled "Chicago 2," which at minimum is not established for the 1994 release.) Therefore even the first quote I offered is WRONG.

Not only does Wikipedia demonstrate confusion, it advances it. "The police are not here to create disorder, they are here to preserve disorder."
