The photo date[edit]

The caption in the info box says, "The second Pensacola Lighthouse, date unknown" and is wrong. While the exact date is unknown, it can at least be narrowed down. The black paint was added in the "mid-1870s" according to The Pensacola Lighthouse by Thomas M. Garner, pg 11. There is also a known photo, published in the same book, which is in possession of the Pensacola Historical Society. The surrounding trees and brush are decidedly much smaller in the society photo, which was taken "in the late 19th century." The named book cover photo was taken in the early 20th century and looks remarkably similar to the info box photo, though still the brush is thinner. This lends credence that it appears the info box photo was likely taken in the early 20th century and possibly even up to the mid-20th century. MagnoliaSouth (talk) 02:51, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
