Cause of trestle fire?[edit]

My (aging) brain cells tell me that the trestle fire was arson, and a disgruntled employee was involved. Can anyone confirm this and, if so, update? Bryan 01:37, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can we swap the pics so we are leading with a pic of a locomotive instead of a burned trestle? Thanks.Kortoso (talk) 23:20, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Name of this page[edit]

Technically there should be a Roaring Camp Railroads page of which the Roaring Camp Big Trees & Narrow Gauge Railroad and the Santa Cruz Big Trees & Pacific Railroad are sub-subjects. *This* page is about the RCBT&NGRR. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Unfortunate bystander (talkcontribs) 08:22, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How big is the park?[edit]

The location in Felton, CA is about 170 acres or so and is leased. I'm not sure how much land is owned as part of the right-of-way between Santa Cruz and Olympia.

Shouldn't the Roaring Camp redirect to this be its own article?[edit]

The name came up during an ESL lesson I was giving this morning, as we were reading Bret Harte's The Luck of Roaring Camp. I presume this is the same place, as the Sierras are mentioned in the story.....and the only listing in GNIS is in California U.S. Geological Survey Geographic Names Information System: Roaring Camp & Big Trees Narrow Gauge RailroadSkookum1 (talk) 07:47, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"The Luck of Roaring camp" is a fictional story and has its own wiki article, The Luck of Roaring Camp, AND also a redirect: Roaring Camp, California.--Aaron-Tripel (talk) 09:22, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I know TWODABs are not a good thing, but there being one Roaring Camp redirect here, and another to Roaring Camp, California, seems strange. There were a bunch of similar things on GNIS:
      • Big Roaring River Lake Campground ID
      • Little Roaring River Lake Campground ID
      • Roaring Brook Camp MA
      • Roaring Brook Camp MA
      • Roaring Brook Camp Church MA
      • Roaring Brook Campground ME
      • Roaring Camp CA
      • Roaring Camp Depot CA
      • Roaring Camp Spring OR
      • Roaring Fork Campground CO
      • Roaring River Group Camp OR
      • Roaring River Recreation Site OR
      • Roaring Run Camp PA
      • Roaring Springs Campground AZ
      • Roaring Winds Camp WA
    • Other than that spring in Oregon, no others are an exact match.....except for Roaring Camp CA and Roaring Camp Depot CA....both of which are in Santa Cruz County, which unlike the Roaring Camp in Harte's story, isn't in the Sierras....unless I don't know where that county is. But there's clearly a non-fictional Roaring Camp, California, obscure though it may be.Skookum1 (talk) 12:01, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Possible solution, not sure it is a proper one: Make Roaring Camp a disamb with:

Main picture swap.[edit]

I plan to swap the pictures of the burned trestle and Dixiana, as the pic of the locomotive seems a much better pic to be the article's main picture. Don't know when I'll get to it, but giving notice in case there's feedback. ColinClark (talk) 20:57, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent idea. Railfan23 (talk) 22:45, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
