Reference to first game[edit]

I removed this as stated in the edit summary as by definition the first rugby match would have been an all_Rugby school affair. If the anonymous editor has a citation then an amended form of this edit can be added to the article as the first game played by non-Rugby schoolboys is notable.GordyB 16:16, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proffesional Teams[edit]

Does anyone know exactly how many professional teams there are in England? Obviously there's the Guiness Premiership, but I was wondering how many below this level are professional? It might be an idea for the article to mention this number, and compare it to other countries in Europe and around the world. Lord Cornwallis (talk) 00:43, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are plans to reduce the size of National League one and make it full time professional.GordyB (talk) 16:05, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

origins of the game[edit]

in the intro, it is stated that it is a popular myth, etc. but there is no mention of why this is a popular myth nor why it is a myth and not a fact. this needs to be explained and cited, or else removed, given an encyclopaedia is not a collection of myths nor trivia. Women[edit]

The word "Women" does not appear in this article (except in the info box), so should it be renamed Men's rugby union in England or amended to include mention of the Women's game ? - Ânes-pur-sàng (talk) 07:01, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
