APOP

Hi, I've removed APOP from "See also" for the moment, it's a redirection to POP3 offering no further info about SASL or SMTP authentication.

It could make sense if we'd have a chapter about one "predecessor" of SMTP AUTH known as POP before SMTP or SMTP after POP. A clumsy method with several chances to screw up royally, but admittedly it's also possible to get it right, and APOP before SMTP is better than AUTH LOGIN (a plain base64 USER PASS style of authentication) for insecure connections. SASL

Hi, is the reference to RFC 2222 correct, or should it be updated to RFC 4422 instead? AntoineL 12:03, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

RFC 4954

It appears that RFC 4954 makes RFC 2554 obsolete as of July 2007. --41.243.16.152 12:24, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
