Comments[edit]

The history section should be a list, not a table. The mayor table is of extremely little interest to anyone and should be removed; failing that, the Japanese should be removed from it. -Amake (talk) 07:34, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2011 earthquake: This is not the Saito destroyed in the tsunami[edit]

This Saito lies in the far south of Japan and is not to be confused with another small village named Saito (population 250) in Minamisanrikucho that was completely destroyed in the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. A note has been added to the main section to forestall good faith but inaccurate attempts to add information to this page which "destroys" this much larger city. Because a widely disseminated Yahoo article detailed the destruction of the tiny village of Saito, in my opinion it would be best to leave it there for the time being so it's obvious that this is not the same place; it can be dropped to an internal note later.
