Shah/Sah is not from Sahukar: It is not correct to state that the word is derived from Sahukar. It is the other way around, Sahukar (sahu-karya) is what a Sahu does, i.e. banking. From numerous 11-12th century Jain inscriptions and texts (from Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, UP) it is clear that the terms Sadhu and Sahu are synonymus.Malaiya (talk)
