Foreground[edit]
This might seem an odd question, but is the foreground detail part of the painting? The cannonballs, trenches etc look unusually photorealistic, especially compared to the rest of the painting. As if there's a scale model of a trench intended to give the painting a bit of 3D depth. Frustratingly Google has lots of details of the painting, but I can't find any images of the painting in its natural surroundings. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 17:58, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
