maybe should not have been merged with station identification

Mind you, I'm not in the biz, but I thought a sounder was for more than just the station ID. Certainly it helps to establish the on-air identity, but I thought there were things like a news sounder, sports sounder, weather sounder, Rush Limbaugh Morning Update sounder (WBEN uses, as the 'Show does, a short piece of "My City Was Gone"), and so on. They don't identify the station directly, like saying "WBEN-AM, Buffalo" would.
