The Wikipedia article of the Sri Lankan Tamil Diaspora is missing critical components. Without having this critical component this Wikipedia article creates the wrong impression to the layman reader [1][edit]

If one follows to the traditional Diaspora definition, then the term “Diaspora” can be defined as: the dispersion of any people from their original homeland. Although the above definition is true from the surface, it is missing a critical component that would mislead the laymen reader. [2] Most Diasporas are unique in nature and an encyclopedia definition should have an unbiased point of view.

Following are the missing components with regard to the article SL Tamil Diaspora:[edit]

  • The Sri Lankan Tamil Diaspora is the main funding source for the terrorist group LTTE (Liberation Tamil Tigers of Elarm).[3] [4][5][6]
  • Tamil Diaspora is the unified voice of The Sri Lankan Tamil as a lobbying institution in many nations.[7]

The modern day evolution of the Sri Lankan Tamil Diaspora makes it very different from the past migratory patterns of people.[3] It has evolved into the above mentioned funding source for LTTE (until 2009) and a lobbying organization [7] If one only mentions the migration pattern, I believe that it represents only the tip of the iceberg. Thereby, it sugarcoats the truth, making the Diaspora superficially attractive and acceptable. My opinion is that the author needs to have a neutral point of view. On the contrary, this article is predominantly written along the ideals of Hindu supremacy.

The main reason why the SL Tamil Diaspora needs to be associated with the LTTE is because:[edit]

  • Unlike many Diasporas, the SL Tamil Diaspora has a highly centralized organization structure where they recognize their leader as Velupillai Prabhakaran (until recently). [8]
  • The structure of the Diaspora is made with “Front Organizations” that conceal connections to the LTTE overseas operations [6] [7] Same front organizations act as lobbying institutions for many western nations [7] Although front organizations are present in few Diasporas, they are neither efficient nor organized in such a manner as the SL Tamil Diaspora. Thereby, this is also a distinguishing factor from the rest of the Diasporas. [2]
  • The LTTE is banned in most western nations other than Norway. The FBI has rated the LTTE as the world’s most ruthless terror organizations in the world. [1]
  • SL Tamil Diaspora is the biggest funding source for the LTTE, which is responsible for the 30 year Elarm war and it resulted in approximately 60,000 deaths. [9] Money laundering activity of the SL Tamil Diaspora accounts to approximately US$ 2 million – US$ 3million each year. Its annual revenue is one of the highest in the world [6].
If you feel these should be included why don't you just add them to the article instead of WP:TAGBOMBING? But bear in mind Wikipedia polices, particularly WP:NPOV and WP:UNDUE. Any content that does not comply with Wikipedia polices will be removed immediately.--obi2canibetalk contr 10:27, 17 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

More objective tone[edit]

Is it possible for this article to be edited down so that a more professional, objective tone comes through? I mean, come on: "Tamils are known as Hard workers" (in Germany.) Good grief. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Randal Oulton (talkcontribs) 21:58, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comparisons with Jewish Diaspora[edit]

The comparison section does not warrant inclusion in this article. At best it is original research, and at worst it is just a laundry list of stereotypes. --Adamrush 16:07, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are number of academic books on this subject and can be used properly to create a proper article. Such as [1][2][3][4]. If no one does anything with this, I will update it into a proper encylopedic article on these days Taprobanus (talk) 15:03, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This article seems racist and untrue[edit]

http://www.ibtimes.com/strangers-strange-land-sri-lankans-staten-island-1500554

I understand that the majority of the left-wing is nowadays pro-muslim and anti-indian (i.e. hinduphobic) but it still shocks me to see such open racism in the media. If I'm not mistaken, Sri Lankan Americans are among the most educated and richest of all Asian Americans, so the article is incredibly biased towards being racist.
