Further points to include with references:

The church is one of the standard 'must see' top ten items for any tourist visiting Shrewsbury.

It is a centre for a number of regular civic occasions for Shrewsbury, including the swearing-in ceremony for the mayor, the Remembrance Day services, and the Battle of Britain commemorations.

It fills in useful gaps with links to other Wikipedia articles:

No 'Parochial Church Council' in 1780s-1790s[edit]

Although there is at least one citation that mentions St Chad's having one when George Steuart was planning and building the present church I believe there may have been an accidental anachronism on the part of the source's writer. Anglican parishes did had Vestry Committees (which also used to consider affairs in the church's parish until the creation of civil Parish Councils in 1894) until 1921 when Parochial Church Councils were instituted (see wikipedia article Parochial church council. I am therefore going to change the description to 'the committee' in this article's account to reflect that fact.Cloptonson (talk) 06:54, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Baptism of Charles Darwin - in Old or New St Chad's?[edit]

I was always under the impression that Charles Darwin, born in 1809, was baptised in the newer St Chad's Church overlooking the Quarry Park, as the new building had been open for worship in the previous decade and century and was likely to have been more spacious to host the ceremony. However it is asserted to have been in the Old St Chad's Church building. The citation put against it does not mention his baptism at all, let alone where it was.Cloptonson (talk) 18:12, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a source for Darwin. As you say, he was certainly baptised in the new church, and I've edited the article to reflect this. Sojourner in the earth (talk) 20:16, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
