John Bradbury[edit]

Is there any rationale for listing John Bradbury as a guest, special or otherwise, at this event? To suggest that he matters in any way similar to the franchise actors or actual astronauts is laughable (or delusional). Furthermore, considering his close involvement with the fanclub, wouldn't his attendance be, I dunno, kind of expected? Unless he has some significance outside of the club, he doesn't warrant mentioning here. --EEMIV (talk) 17:46, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He founded the club that later evolved into SFI but he hasn't been an active member of the organization in decades. His importance to the organization is unquestioned and that he's only been to two of these events illustrates that his appearance at one is of note, relative to this event. - Dravecky (talk) 19:37, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I also want to point out that Bradbury's creation of STARFLEET (the legal name for the association) also lead to the establishment of several other Star Trek Fan Association, including Starfleet Command (which also claims Bradbury as it's founder) and the International Federation of Trekkers (which some of it's founding officers claim to be former members of STARFLEET). Can you substantiate any importance outside the club? If not, his presence is immaterial to the real/outside world and doesn't warrant inclusion here any more than any of the club's ex-presidents, -admirals, -deck swabs, etc. --EEMIV (talk) 20:37, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
He's not a fictional character. His importance in an article about a real event as a special guest of that event, as noted in the Charlotte Observer, is more than sufficient for the brief, properly-cited mention as it currently stands. - Dravecky (talk) 22:28, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
