The sentence "Static testing is generally done as unit testing following an "Elephant in Cairo" style." is not correct. The reason is the definition in the section before: "...is a form of software testing where the software isn't actually used" which wants to say that it is a non-execution based method. - The unit test is a dynamic test. --84.56.142.31 17:58, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Expanded meaning[edit]

Static testing also applies to engineering, not only software. For example, aircraft undergo static testing before flight. I think the article needs to be reworked to include the expanded meanings.--Lester 04:28, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merge?[edit]

Should this article be distinct from the fuller one on static program analysis? I propose a redirect to there instead of keeping this page.

An unsigned question and no discussion does not constitute a merge discussion. Walter Görlitz (talk) 13:48, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
