Feedback from New Page Review process[edit]

I left the following feedback for the creator/future reviewers while reviewing this article: This article shows that it was just created today, but it has maintenance tags dating back several years. What's the history behind this article?

Hi. Do check out the original article Peranakan's history (of which this Straits-born Chinese came from) for context. Unfortunately, what it appears to be, the user who made a huge change to the Peranakan article somehow managed to get it approved. Context of the article aside (which I understood his argument), the approach taken to make those changes to the article is definitely not the best one. I feel the best solution is to have the original Peranakan article renamed to Straits-born Chinese (so any previous discussions from previous history log is preserved in the Talk page), and a new Peranakan article should be created to accommodate the Peranakan context that you can see now currently. If you can come up with a solution to this confusing mess, it would be much appreciated. If you are confused about distinguishing the Peranakan and Straits-born Chinese context of the article, feel free to ask me. I hope there would be a solid solution to these changes. Thank you. - Jeblat (talk) 11:54, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
User:Jeblat, do you mind posting this at Talk:Peranakans#Proposed trim. The changes have not been approved, the page is just temporarily locked while under discussion. If there is no consensus for the proposed change, the article will be reverted to is earlier state, and we can discuss about having an WP:RM. Thank you. 2601:5CC:8300:A7F0:E06B:D19C:C2E9:E44B (talk) 16:14, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
